Still not Working til 7 every day the last few weeks has been killing me when you put a 1 1/2 commute on the end.... add weekends chock full of stuff (Last weekend was sister-in-law's wedding reception, before that we had kids being sick etc) and bugger all has changed for weeks. This week should be a little quieter... but then again, I said that *last* week! may need to actually book some time off to move this on.

Overdue an update... Still working stupid hours and every weekend until the 18/19th April is booked up with something or other, so progress on the car has been... lets be polite and call it slow. But there has been a little progress - since I can't do much more mechanically for now until it's on it's wheels I've done a few repairs to the wiring loom from the warm safety of the dining room table I've also booked in some helpers for that free weekend (so, so far away!) to finally get this thing on it's wheels. In other news, I got a little creative to get some things done - digging up garden's doesn't make a heap load of noise so I started on a new parking bay (I have good relations with the neighbours thank god) by digging out the hedgeline as the moon rose: Going to be putting some MOT base down, then a gravel grid and (yeah, you guessed it) gravel. Should look nice, and we really need the parking.

Busy week this week. Got the chassis mated to the running gear with help from a friend, real watershed moment! Having a few suspension isssues though. As expected, front suspension is fouling even with the 'horseshoe' plate - need to see what can be done without compromising rigidity. Need to get Stuart's input to make sure whatever i do will not fundamentally break at an inopportune moment. A little less expected is the rear suspension issue; basically not enough travel on the piston ... Sits far too low. Really odd, trebble-checked the refs on the shocks against their test sheets so they are definately the ones i was meant to fit. Will need to pick this up with gaz. Pictures to follow.

As promised, some pics: 37cm from the lower outer wishbone bolt to the top outside of the flat suspension turret plate when jacked off ground on maximum droop. These are gaz gold pro's and should be set for standard ride height with adjustment. Model spec ref is GGP-2420. Needs at least another 3m if not more. On the front: The 'wings' on the subframe need to go, but triming the "horseshoe'' won't leave me more than 2mm of metal at the thinnest point (paper templated it). So it looks as if i will need to make up replacements.

Rears - ~37cm from bottom bolt centre on the shock to the flat of the turret.
Front a little longer - 43cm.

I had similar problems with the suspension and ended up cutting off the 'wings' and also modifying the wishbone braces to give more space. Great idea putting the protective foam on the frame - I wish I'd thought of that as it would have saved a couple of touch-ups!

Thanks go to dave again for the lend of his old shocks; fitted up and confirmed my original measurements were right. Allows me to grt on!
Seems the racers work around it by using spacers on the threaded portion of the rod, waiting for the final word on this from gaz as this has been the state of play for a while? Reserving judgement til i have the parts in my hand and have a chance to test them.

Chop, chop, chop. Also fitted old shocks - can now easily roll the chasis. Waiting on gaz, although my horsehoes wont fit in any orientation using the gaz layout. Will need to cut three quarters of the horseshoe to make it fit... Considering if (at that point) it makes sense just to make one up with a parabolic curve on it. Stuart said that FEA shoeed it was unstressed so it's even an option to leave it off! Probably wouldn't go that far.

In which direction and why? Sent from my GT-I8190N using proboards Fouls on shocks - wither direction. Gaz gold pros are significantly fatter than standard, so not enough clearance.
