Made some brackets to fit the bonnet similar to Steve's design Bracket mounted to the bonnet. Seems to work really well Added some brackets to mount the engine cover. Note the use of jump leads as clamps as I didn't have enough I am making some side panels from expanded aluminium grille and painting black. Anyone know of this being a problem for IVA?

Seatbelts fitted. This was a bit of a pain due to the small amount of room between the mount locations and the runner meaning the belt got jammed and could not be adjusted I got round it by making some spacers. The belts do seem quite long though I also fitted a side indicator in the front mudguards. I 'believe' that this will meet the IVA requirements of the viewable angles. Any advice is much appreciated

Hi, I am preparing the car for IVA which I am looking to book soon but have a couple of questions I hope you guys can help with regarding the test. Any help is much appreciated. 1. I have driven up and down the road outside my house to set the brakes up but have noticed that there is not really much 'self correction' to the steering at all. I intend to drive it to the test which is about 30 miles so maybe it will loosen up a bit. I have the top suspension arm spaced as shown below which others appear to have done the same. Do I have this right? 2. I know I need to move the headlight / indicators up so they can be seen from the required angles but so far I am stuck for an easy way to do this. Can anyone help with this? As you can see I have them mounted on the lugs at the moment 3. Does anyone think there will be a problem with this brake line? It does not pull tight or contact the tyre on either lock but I cannot zip tie it any closer otherwise it will be too tight. 4. I seem to remember reading somewhere about steering wheel centres needing to be rubber or something. Is this correct as mine is just the standard wheel

5. Is it ok to mount the rear view mirror here and is it ok to be metal? I think I need to take the screen off for the test - is this correct? If so it will be a pain as I want to drive to the test centre

1- my steering felt the same and only just passed, the more i have driven it tho the better it has got. 2- i found some old seat belt brakets shaped like a 'Z' which made lamps higher and more to the sides. 3- my brake lines are the same as yours, provided they don't hit anything when turning from one lock to the other they should be fine. 4- the tester has a aluminium ball the size of a head which he will assess the edges of your steering wheel center, mine is metal and passed, it will purely depend on the angle of the edges. 5- i put my mirror there and took screen off, screen will definatly fail so no point in having it on there, i wore safety specs to drive to test, the wind will make your eyes water else, my mirror was out of the ford focus, i would imagine metal one will pass provided the edges are the correct angle Also, you might want to measure your rear lights form outer edge and distance off ground, mine were in the same place as yours and they failed and needed to be moved. Hope that is some help, any more questions feel free to ask

Hi Chizzy, thanks for the advice - very helpful. You don't happen to have a picture of the brackets you used for the lights do you?

I used 2 like this, bolted one end to light bracket on chassis then headlamp through other end, i angled out towards side and upwards so could be seen from variuos angles required

Hi, I finally have an IVA date in June so had just a couple more questions in the hope that I can pass first time. Do I need to cover the engine mounts or will these be ok? Will my light brackets be ok? I have rounded the edges. Do I need to do anything about edges under the bonnet? E.g. The bonnet lock mount Are the lights ok? The IVA manual says the edge of the illuminated area of the rear lamp must be maximum 400mm from the outside edge of the vehicle and mine are within this: "Lamp/reflector lateral position is measured from the extreme outer edge of the vehicle (disregarding tyres, mirrors, lamps and reflectors) to the edge of the illuminated area (or reflective surface on a reflector) nearest that side of the vehicle." Thanks

Hi mate, looks good. 1- i didn't cover engine mounts, left them like yours and passed fine, 2- light brackets shoud be fine, mine were not as high as yours and passed 3- edges under bonnet are not tested 4- i had to make brackets to move my rear lights outwards so they would meet the 400mm rule, they also measure up form the ground so be sure they are high enough too, can't rememeber the measurment but will be in the manual. hope thats of some help, good luck
