Yep, but we don't need 32/32/32, we need 32/ 22/32, and 22/22/22, both with longer 'legs' than that. My rough plan is to make the whole lot, less the 45* bends, a sort of a 'H' out of stainless, so that it won't melt if it's close to the manifold occasionally. Also, where's the fun in that? :-) Could have bought, taxed and insured a decent Honda S2000 for the amount I've sunk into my Rocket at this stage!

My initial plan was to buy an s2000 for a toy, in hindsight this would have been the cheaper and easier option... and probably much less frustrating at times. But I don't meet too many people who've built their own car on a regular basis.

Looking at gathering all my bits of paperwork for the IVA, which is looming large. Couldn't locate the receipt from RTR, I don't think I actually got one. They went away, resurfacing with a new name and URL. Anyway, fair effs to Paul H, much as I've criticised them, I mailed asking him for a copy of the receipt, and he sent me one within a couple of hours!
No buts, just a thumbs up.

But like you said, there are not that many people driving around Dublin in cars they built; I believe if mine gets on the road, it'll be the only Rocket in the Republic of Ireland, joining a pair of Exocets and two dozen or so Westfields and Cobra reps. In the 80s/90s you used to see a 'guaranteed Irish' logo on things made here, went away with an EU directive, but I think I'll chuck one on somewhere subtle.

Hmmm, bad news on IVA this morning, it may already be too late to send it off to get an IVA pass before 29/03/2019, posted this on the IVA forum. Without dipping into politics, I can only hope for a softer or delayed exit deal, or I may have built a track-only special :/

You could always hope for a cancellation or maybe try a different IVA test centre? Nottingham is very good and short waiting times when I booked mine in. I got a retest within a month.

Yeah, I'm weighing up options. I'm going to have to use a finishing service to put it through, because if I take the ferry over with my trailer, I won't have any workshop to fab up bits and add the missing nuts, trim etc. Nottingham is the most obvious choice, because they'll have seen Rockets before, lots of them. The nearest IVA finisher to Nottingham is Exo SC, and I dunno how they'd be about putting mine through, I have said mean things about them on here. It seems the one nearest SKCC is pretty busy anyway. However! In better news, I got confirmation from NSAI (our BSA) that the UK IVA will remain a valid standard after Brexit for the time being, so that's good, and pushes my deadline out a few more months. Still going to lose my garage in May.

I wonder if deanohonda would do the finishing and IVA for you? for a fee obviously as he owns a garage in Nottingham and has built and IVA'd his own Rocket. Maybe worth a message to him. If you need his mobile number I have it.

And if it came back with a K20 in it, I'd probably be cool with that :-)

On to the stainless coolant lines. The main goal is to eliminate both Tees, which I think are the source of my leak, all extensions, the Ash joiner with the tapped NPT thread for the coolant temp sensor and to make the whole thing less melty and leaky-free. This is where we're starting from First, I cut two 300mm lengths of 32mm tube, chamfering the ends. One simply gets a little build-up where the sensor is to go, drilled and tapped to NPT2 (about 9.mm), bit of threadlock, job's a good-un. Then the hardest part really, as it's going to be part of two Tees; the vertical part of a 80* 32/22/32 and the horizontal part of about a ~90* 22/22/22. Loosely fit, it'll go here Bought a brilliant set of steel holesaws that will cut out big apertures, this 16mm one being almost exact match for the ID of my 22mm tube I tacked this and ran a rootpass around it, I'll gob on a bit more next time I'm down, finish it smooth. Fair bit to do, but only 3-4 hours in the garage this week, hopefully I get a full day next weekend. and the firewall/bulkhead just about goes back on

Dean just replied and said ok to give you his number. I can't recommend Dean enough, he has the knowledge and experience so I can't think of anyone better. I have messaged it to you.

Hello Everyone! Thanks again for the help on the Idle issue, I resolved it by replacing the IAC Idle Air Controller Valve. The car purrs like a kitten now! My guess is the valve was gone for a while and my banging on the intake opened it up creating the high idle that never adjusted down! Thanks Brian

With the Photobucket issues, I'm finding it hard to find pictures of IVA-passed solutions to the upper chassis seat belt mounting. Anyone? I know I've seen some sort of box construction in the past.

Do you mean engine mounts?

I've seen a thermos flask lid used on one of the builds for an engine mount cover.
