very nice !
how do you make sure the whole assembly withstands the load ? btw what would be the maximum load ?

I'd be worried about lateral load on those supports given the length. The whole wing assembly is going to want to flex around a corner.

Unless he is taking turns at 1.25Gs, he should be fine.

Unless he is taking turns at 1.25Gs, he should be fine. That's not even a lot for the exo

Nomdenom - I have no idea what the maximum load is going to be on the spoiler. Once i get the registration sorted I will test it at various speeds and if its still attached to the car I will consider it a good result. If its missing when I stop then we will know it didn't work.
On a serious note, I have tried to make it as sturdy as possible. From looking at other spoilers that people have fitted both Rockets and Exocets I recon it should be OK. Most of the rockets have long spoiler supports and I've not heard of any owners taking them off. One of the reasons i went with this option is so I can get the spoiler mounted to the chassis its self and therefore any force is applied direct to the chassis instead of the fibreglass tank cover.
dietcoke - there is very little lateral flex in the spoiler legs. One of the reasons I upgraded the base bracket from Aluminuim to steel was because I had a bit of movement and they weren't up the the job. The steel brackets are much better. Both legs are under a small amount of outward tension on the mount where they meet the spoiler which seem to have reduced the lateral movement of the spoiler. Again if it all collapses when I go round a corner at speed then we will know it didn't work.

true, if it collapses you will know - and that's good for you. however it would be better for us (although probably for you too, come to think of it) if you lived on to come back here and tell us too

Still waiting for the registration to go through. Whilst I'm waiting, I have changed over from standard reflectors on the tank cover to ones with LED's in. Should make the rear of the car more visible in low light. The light also reflects off the bottom of the spoiler which looks pretty good …although i didn't have the camera set high enough to capture it on the video.

Got a phone call from DVLA today telling me my new registration number and that as of tomorrow the car is fully registered and I can legally drive it. Insurance with Footman James sorted now I have the registration and I also managed to get some plates made up ready for tomorrow. A month after passing iva we are ready to go for a drive.

So took the Exocet out for a drive this morning and took it nice and easy. Then decided to take it to work up the motorway. Crused nice but seems to lack the power I was expecting. Also noticed that I had used a hell of a lot of fuel considering the number of miles I had covered.. When I got to work one of my mates stated they could smell a slight petrol when I reved the engine.
The engine seems to be running very rich and lacking some power so i popped in to Skuzzle Motorsport in Winchester and spoke to Nick who suggested that it could be either the engine temp sensor causing the ecu to think the engine is still cold or the cam sensor angle. Bearing in mind that I changed the o ring in the cam sensor this could be the he problem ... ie me messing things up..!!
Anyway I've now covered 40ish miles In the Exocet and used half a tank of fuel so something is not quite right so I'm not going to drive the car anymore now until next week when I'm taking it in to Skuzzle to get it put on their Dyno to see that is going on with the power and the engine set up.
Other than that the car drive nice. Need to sort the aero screen and maybe add a coup of bonnet catches near the dash as on the motorway at speeds of around 65mph I noticed the back of the bonnet lifting very slightly due to the wind pressure on the underside in the engine bay. Nothing major but better safe than sorry.
Oh and the rear spoiler is still well and truly attached. No issues there and no lateral movement.
