Hi Steve The sound man came mid day and tested every car as we lined up ready for our turn on the track. The limit is 105db at 3/4 revs, its up to you to decide what 3/4 is..my tR1ke obviously only rev to 6 thou so I held it at 4thou and it passed easy at 99db I don't remember seeing him taking readings out on the track but I could be wrong as I wasn't really looking for him.

For info the sound man takes readings from the surrounding area (public roads around the circuit) before arriving and after leaving. We have a good working relationship with the sound man and I for one would like for that to remain, so I would ask that all participants please ensure that their vehicles meet the required regulation. nigel

Hi, Is this event definitely not open to prospective purchasers of a kit? Thanks. Stephen.

It is open to prospective MEV owners and if you ask nicely you will probably get a passenger ride or 2.
But don't expect track time on another kit brand as its for MEV's only

Hi, Is this event definitely not open to prospective purchasers of a kit? Thanks. Stephen. Hi Stephen, The event is open to spectate FREE by anyone who is a member of this forum. You are a member, so your more than welcome to come along and see what's going on. To take part 'on track' as 'Slugshot' has already commentated, it must be in an MEV designed vehicle. However if you wish to go out on track you must, pay to be a passenger (event fee £10), come equipped i.e. correctly dressed plus crash helmet in hand, sign the appropriate indemnity wavers, get a safety briefing from one of the Marshalls and can talk any of the members into letting you ride shotgun, you can go out on track as much as you can get someone to take you during the day. Hope this clarifies the situation, and I look forward to seeing you there. nigel

Ok I did ask this question before but I'd just like to confirm what others members are planning. I've got a GoPro Hero 2 that I'm going to be using, when I'm not using it on track, others are more than welcome to put it on their vehicle if they wish. I'm planning on setting mine on 1280x720 50fps PAL going to use this format rather than the 1920x1080 25fps as its better for slow motion and if its rendered well looks superb. For audio I'm using a skeleton case with an external condenser Lavalier microphone. (less wing noise more exhaust raw) For track side I'm going to use my Canon DSLR, but again I'm going to set it to 1280x720 50fps PAL for continuity with the GoPro footage. Please let me know what your intentions are and why. nigel

I've bought a new hero 3 black so I'll be trying every setting there is. 1080p at 60 fps is super smooth but at a gig a minute will have to bring my laptop to keep clearing the memory card. The 30photos in a second is good for getting those drifting shots Rich

Yeah my plan this year was initially thinking to drive early doors Sat morning, but camping makes much more sense this time again to be fresh for the morning events, so I will camp again Friday night, I will be working Friday so will set off when I get home. Should be down in Lichfield about 7.30 to 8pm, will be towing my trailer as although I have my bits for my caravan, all my time will be concentrated on getting the gearshift moved and cabled up over the next few weeks.
I will have my Drift Ghost camera on my helmet or body mount, still experimenting with how it works, but pretty happy with results, need to buy a mic to wire into exhaust.
I do intend to try and limit the output of the exhaust as it seemed too loud last year.... :-)

I have one of those db killers that fit in the end of the silencer that you can have if you haven't got one. I'll be using my akrapovic pipe as I did last year, its quieter and gives more power than than the short stubby can.
