Well I've just found my car build at the bottom of page 2. Its ages since I've had any build time due to work and other stuff that's higher on the priority list. Anyway, I managed to get down there yesterday, 2 major jobs. Other steering rod needs making properly. I've stripped it out and will photo and add an explanation. Then the aux pulley bracket needs making too. On a plus, got a great deal with millers oils :-) , trade prices on the running in oil and the nano tech.

So, Xmas day was spent talking to the engineer. A proper rod is going to be turned next week. I will see the price then possibly put it on the sales. The self made ones could be a bit dangerous should we say ?

Your build was gonna be my next read. I'm sure you made up something of an acceptable standard. Mine is well under par.

Debating on losing the rose joint in favour of the bearing mounted on and through the bulkhead too.

Sorry for delay in reply, have been away on holiday - mid-20's every day, not a drop of rain, house by the sea, no internet or TV - was heaven. Phasing?? Please educate me. Whether your Universal Joints are in line or not. www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_04-2009_V2_Steering_Universal_Joint_Phasing.pdfI had a minor issue with my certifier who said they should all BE in line but had the above linked information claiming that they should NOT be in line. Took a degree of tact to assure him my setup was correct. Mind you had to look up the definition of tact beforehand as I am not known for it.

That's a very good point, I had not considered that, I'll check what the phasing was on the original steering setup in the donor car.

Ive gone backwards to go forwards a little. I was very unhappy with my steering rod, and more unhappy with myself for accepting $hit standards from myself. Anyway, I binned my crap effort and drew something up on CAD to be made. My poor effort. New rod, ill dig out the CAD drawing. If anyone is interested pm.

I needed a bracket to mount a wheel to, to reverse the aux belt so the pump runs in the correct direction. had a few fitting issues though
