Second that!!
The weather is spoiling everything at the minute, we must carry on and do our bit!!
Weather was miserable but we still had a great laugh, we improvised and got the cars and Eco-Exo under the awnings etc and had a good time,,
Well done to the usual crowd, Andy, Nick, Bob, and Matt & Joyce (after 3hr drive) waterproofs and helmet how hard are they!!! Usual poor show from the Exocets???

Hi All
I agree with Bossman & Scott the weather did spoil the turn out off cars and we shouldn't demand people to bring out there pride and joy in the bad weather. but as Scott says we still had a laugh under the awnings. And it is always good to catch up with all at Team MEV/RTR. All n All we still had a Good day out.

Got back at 3pm yesterday, we were the first to arrive and pitch the tent on Friday and had already had a bad trip down in driving rain, but non the less we did put up with it till Midday yesterday by which time the weather had killed my spirit. We had already seen the main part of the show, and hearing the Spitfire flyover had been cancelled we decided to make our way home, we got rain all the way up to Pontefract and then the heavens opened around 4pm with major flooding, so it could have been much worse :-)
The trailer was a complete success and towed very easily and very nicely, cruising at the maximum limit of 60 MPH made for a very nice experience and my Nephew must have been very relaxed and warm as he was asleep most of the trip home.
We still enjoyed camping and seeing more MEV owners on the Saturday morning in there cars than I had seen last year on the Sunny Saturday. I hope the weather is nice down there today and more owners make an appearance, we had been offered to show the TR1KE on the Kit Car stand on Friday night by Ian Stent and we would have been next to the Lambo, however that meant a serious clean up of my mucky TR1KE, which I literally couldn't be bothered to do after still having to do this when I got home.... :-)
All in all, we had a good time. Hope to see you all at Curborough and indeed Moggers day on the 21st August

Nothing kills spirit and a car show more than bad weather, however we did make the trip down on Friday and by 8.30 were pitched and having some tea, I just decided to take my TR1KE home instead of having to leave it under a cover all day :-(
While most people wouldn't bother bringing there pride and joy out in that weather, my whole point was to make an appearance in our TR1KE although we only stayed till 12pm Sat.... It made more sense to get home in some comfort than water logged :-)
I think next year I will make the trip down on Saturday dinner time, then camp over till Sunday afternoon, and I totally forgot to re-visit the D&L Foam lady to collect more foam :-)
Hopefully Donnington will be a good turn out. Hope to see you all there and some better weather too.

Bossman i agree with what your saying about the effort that goes in to arrange the shows, i myself put in a lot of effort as i had already pre-booked tickets a month ago, then thought i couldnt attend due to a job coming up in scotland and so therefore sold my tickets at a loss, the job then fell through so we made the effort to get ready saturday morning, my missus with a cold and also getting my 12 week old baby ready and made our way to newark to then buy tickets AGAIN! I feel i have the right to say it was a waste of time as i paid money to get in to a show where there was less cars than in the car park! I guess from my years on motorbikes im used to getting wet, as was my pride and joy (my motorbike) so it doesnt really matter to me what the weather is like, if it gets wet, it can dry again!lol. I agree that we must make the effort to attend the shows and keep them going but what is the point of the public paying and attending and showing support if kit car owners arnt going to do the same?? As someone who is starting my build next week i know already that i'll be out in mine, come rain or shine! ive already been and bought me and the missus helmets! Was just disappointed to not see and meet more moggers and kit cars. By the way i have showed my support at stoneleigh and newark for the last three years and will still continue to attend in the future. All brits are aware of the lovely english weather but still buy kit cars?! They cost a small fortune to build but seems a shame to keep them locked away for knowone to see and enjoy. To the builders who turned up: Thankyou for making the effort and getting cold and wet, without you few guys we would have literally just paid to walk around a completely empty field! Well lets just pray for sunshine next year!

I didn't attend it to far away and my other kit car is of the road. I can see both sides of the story who wants to go to a show when it's pissing down with rain especially with a car with no roof but it's a shame that there seems to be lack of support.
But why do organisers keep on insisting with show in the open we have had a couple of rubbish summers lately. If you have a venue with indoor area then if it does rain owners are more likely to attend when they are in the dry and more importantly the cars then the public will still have something to see.

Fantastic weekend, apart from lack of sleep due to standing around a camp fire til 3am drinking wodka!! Paul played brillo on Friday night, we sold a few kits, drank a few bottles had a good meal out (apart from Matts mouldy bread!) Then today the icing on the cake as 12 MEVs turned up, prize has to go to Bruce who drove his Exocet up from Southampton, he got there b4 I had got out of my sleeping bag. Great to see everyone, good effort!! Attachments:

A good day out today, and as Stuart says, a good turn out of cars today too . We struck lucky with the weather - set off in rain from Manchester, but that soon changed. I won't say glorious sunshine, but definitely what passes for summer weather! Thanks to Bob for the lemon cake.....hope Carbondog is soon recovered and back on all four paws Martin
