Was passing by your place earlier today, and I could have sworn I saw a red and shiny exoskeletal car complete with number plate... did I?

Well it passed LVV cert but failed it's warrant on Tuesday However if you were "passing" at 1:00 yesterday you will have seen it emerge with plates all sorted after the retest

Had to clip a rear brake hose back further as it could have touched the wheel - cable tie = sorted. Front wheel bearing nearside was well noisy, I was shocked actually - cleaned out and re-packed with lots of grease = sorted. Both of these were easy fixes. However the Dominator headlights did not dip the correct way, should be to the left but they dip to the right I was stunned at this seeing as they came from the UK. I have read sorry tales about them and now I too think they are a pile of... I will document the fix, which barely got me through, tonight.

Great that for the most part they were easy fixes.
We've had more or less no issues with the Dominators passing the regs on Exocets in NZ. It was only my first car in 2012 that I had to tweak a tiny bit, and convince the compliance guy that it was a flat beam. Since then, no issues.
Do we get to see a photo of car with #plates??

When the lights are dipped dip the beam should move left and up, away from oncoming traffic. It was clear that mine were moving right and up, definitely the wrong direction, this was apparent with both lights and seemed to imply they were set for European or USA roads yet they were sourced in the UK. The beam is flat but still dips wrong, I looked into the magic alignment box and there was no doubt this was happening. I had sourced some new bulbs so changing them was the first thing I tried, this made no difference to the pattern but they were a hell of a lot brighter. So then I rotated the lens and after a little uhming and ahing he agreed to let them pass if I could make the no position fixed but I could tell he was not totally happy. I marked the new position with masking tape on each light. Then at home I pop riveted a curved piece of aluminium to the lens holder using the original screw hole. Then after putting the lens back in place to the marker I drilled and tapped the aluminium and fitted a M4 screw. The difference between old and new hole was about 15mm. On retest I could tell he was not totally happy and he recommenced I get some decent units before my next warrant (in three years ) However I will definitely be on the lookout anyway. The new bulbs I fitted were these (well this is the box with the hold bulbs inside. They are the brightest halogen bulbs on the market from what I can ascertain.

Do we get to see a photo of car with #plates?? Oh I don't know, now it is finished the novelty has worn off.......... nah kidding Will upload some after the weekend - long weekend for us, I in fact have got four days off. On Sunday I am off to another sprint race so back on with the cage Mind you I have decided that the Rocket is a pretty impractical car, nowhere to keep your lunchbox and about six times in the last couple of days I have headed out of the office to get something from or put something in the boot of the car before I remembered! And totally useless for taking the cat to the vet.

Always the same, you think you have finished and then you find some modification or tweak that needs to be done. It was pointed out to me recently that I seemed to be using an awful amount of clutch travel and did it really need to be that long. So thought about it and made a special device to solve the problem which I am, reluctantly, going to share with you. Reluctant because I am convinced that this could make my fortune when finally perfected. So here I reveal, for the first time, the "Kiwi Clutch Pedal Shortenerupper" PM me for prices and delivery options. Note it can be supplied with cable ties in a range of colours (one option will be Red n Shiny of course) and I am also thinking of making it in carbon for the more racey drivers amongst you along with a range of native NZ timbers for classic models.

On a serious note swapping the mc would give the same slave movement for less pedal movement. Here you are also limiting the slave movement.

With the Shortenerupper in place there is still adequate travel to change gear without grinding basically before I was pushing through too much.
I had two choices, install the Shortenerupper or cut two inches off my leg!

Catch can arrived Still need one more hose as there are two outlets on the engine, it has a nice little sight hose on the side so it will be interesting how much oil collects. Also fitted this last week It is a twin socket outlet, one is your standard 12v cigarette lighter point which is wired to the battery for charging. The other is a USB connector with either 1.2A or 5A available. I used it to power my video at the weekend eliminating the video battery from the equation, coupled with a 64Gb card I can collect over 5hours of video and no fear of the battery going flat.
