Ok .. with an MX5 outside being stripped in readyness for a new life .... do I need to keep the remaining door for this lite version of the x5 or are the doors on this kit fiberglass.... What else should I keep from the body of the donor MX5 should I have a change of heart from the Exocet to this? Oh and some more photos when you've got a spare second PLEASE.... Cheers Trident

Sorry if I have presented to many options, I can't help myself! We keep the MX5 doors. All other body parts are sold on. We cut the guts out off the doors to lighten them but retain the side impact bar. We supply door caps in the grp set. The green part of the door in the picture is the metal MX5 door. The caps just stick on with PU adhesive.

I really like the look of this, could you make a roll cage or continue the spaceframe from the superlight into the roof for a coupe body? Also does the superlight need to pass the IVA because of the new chassis.

It would need an IVA test due to the new chassis, it is aimed at the race market so unless someone wishes to join Britcar then I am sorry but I do not plan to make a Coupe version. I could spend months making moulds to form air/water tight doors, inner arches, bulkhead seals, window seals etc and then only sell a couple! An MSA spec full cage can be ordered with this kit at £800 extra. It would spoil the look though. I would prefer to supply an MSA spec roll bar. Mine will have a bar to match the rear cover shape.

I'd be interested in seeing more of this new back end - the one with the 6 light clusters. Always thought the double-cluster varient seemed a little lacking, so would be great to see!

I am in the midst of building a electric MX5 right now (my second EV) and I am really interested in how the superlight turns out. I planned to turned mine into a sppedster once I get it rolling on the road. I look forward to seeing pics of the chassis and getting a final weight. Please keep us posted.

Have you got a side by side picture of the front & rear options? Julie took the only picture and there is a bloke standing in the way! Not long though for a proper photo shoot. There were some drawings of both on here, can't remember where.

The 'lightweight' spaceframe chassis version looks great! IMO your best creation yet
My thoughts- old mx5s rot from inside out on sills and rails so great to see space frame chassis. 'lightweight' name confused me with Exocet lightweight Hope this new version doesn't get confused with body-kit original mevx5 Interested to see different front look Heard doors are hard to get right?
Pls tell me this will be at stonleigh

Stuart I have just noticed a discrepancy between the superlight price on the attached pdf and the blue leaflet from stoneleigh - please can you confirm (hopefully the lower one!)

Hi the Superlight complete kit inc lights, headlight covers, nut bolts adhesive, tunnel, dash, instrument pod etc etc, is.... £2895 plus VAT This price includes the clam shell front with steel work for a hinge and door pillar plates for door hinges.
