Couldn't agree more Mat I too went with a standard fit 1.8ltr. OK 10/15bhp more but the engine is heavier so it sort of balances its self out. Stuarts already covered earlier in this thread the benefits of the 1.8 installation so I won't comment further. Again my initial experience, excluding straight line acceleration, is that there's plenty of power and any money would be best spent on track practice and driving tuition to get the best out of the car before increasing the engine output. nigel

Yep that will do nicely. It uses the IB5 gearbox, there are normally loads on ebay.

if I was going down the new components route would it be easy enough to get hold of a new ib5. if so how much and best place to source one.
Sorry if these all seem obvious questions but I am new to this game.
