Got the main bulkhead panels in today, not all fitted but at least cut and ready to fit. Finished the brake lines and then fitted the fuel filter. I decided to fit the fuel filter at the engine end of the fuel line so its easier to change during service intervals. Its now next to the oil filter but not really in view. Also got the tray fitted for the electrics to lay on. The best thing about today was putting the first gallon of fuel in her and after about 6 seconds she started and run, ;D the best feeling ever. Not long left now until IVA. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Had the car running today and managed to drive up and down abit, but there is a problem! Tank gauge reads full, rev counter does not work, alarm immobiliser works, and there are no ignition lights. The car drives ok and the flasher bulbs light up on the dash. Anyone had this happen or help please.

Sounds like an earth for the instrument cluster but you probably already know that. Tracking down whats wrong and where is the hard bit unless its something so obvious its right in front of your eyes...... Will you be ready for Curborough?

Steve check and re-seat the connectors into the back of the consol - I had a few weirdies due to the connections not lining up correctly ( the thin plastic paper connectors dont line up very well ). this would explain the speedo and fuel gauge( my fuel gauge did take a while to settle and remember its permanantly on ) Have you checked the ig bulbs ?

Hi Red, i originally had all lights on dash, ign etc, but when i began fixing to the steering column the clocks fell backwards and earthed out with a tiny spark. Have checked every fuse, all ok, all bulbs ok, is there a fuse in the clocks themselves.

Check the back of the printed board on the cluster if it sparked you most likely melted one of the leads just find it and jump the broken run with a small gage wite and low power soldering gun. the fuel gage will read full if wire power lead is earthed..

Dont think there are any individual fuses-and the gwar has it pretty nailed
Can you swap it out to check ( is there someone who has a build or mx5 locally)you could end up looking for the eternal needle if you dont have a decent start point

Well had a good weekend, got on with taking a few wires out the loom. I re-joined the loom back together with crimp connectors as a temporary measure, once ive got the final layout position i intend to solder and heat shrink. I intend to fit the interior lights under the dash, and probably fit with blue bulbs to suit the body colour The main run for the front lights will pass along top of the engine and will be quite tidy after they have been shortened to suit. Got the floor panels cut and part fitted, and the hand brake is now in and adjusted up With my tank being fitted the opposite way round i am making a battery tray that fits in the recess of the tank where the spare wheel used to sit, it bolts very easily to the original tank mount cross members on the frame. This means its all under the hood and gives a tidy interior for the car. I also got chance to temp fit the exhausts, got to weld up the connecting pipe from these to the original exhaust, i was abit worried by an earlier post that i made concerning the inlet size of them, however a re-measure gives them at 35mm each, not 15mm as i recently said. So should get no pressure build up. Can't see me loading any more picks for a couple of weeks, as we're going to greece end of the week ;D

You leaving the battery there? That's quite a weight high up... You'd be better fitting it behind the passenger seat in a box tidily away. Also battery near the fuel tank...?

Hi Steve,
Just wondering where you are getting the foam for your seats from. I can only find smaller sections for motorbike seats.
Cheers
