Be carefull with just water in the system mate - i made a novice mistake early this year and didnt put any antifreeze in ( purley after doing a leak test and forgetting to drain it after) - it was frozen for about a week , but had no lasting damage - ( car was garaged)

Well spent a few hours the other night making the rear bulkheads and messing around deciding on where to put the battery. As i used the plastic panel supplied to make my dash to house the wiring i decided to make the rear bulk head from sheet metal, made some templates from card then roughly cut them out at work. Spent some time trimming them and fitting and I'm happy with them. I've also been toying with the idea of mounting the battery in the passanger footwell like on the rocket but this has proven to make the passanger leg room a little cramped, I know its a toy weekend/sunny weather car but still, I made a template out of card and mounted the battery on wood to simulate the level when the floor will be fitted. Heres the idea Now I'm 6ft 3 and i can sit in there but have to bend my knees or can rest my feet on the box but still undecided, doing it this way will fully enclose the battery and make mounting the cables easier and also shorter, but I'm still undecided. On a good note I have this week off to make progress on the car, I'll be spending the full day tomorrow on it so hope to get lots done, hopefully updates should come thick and fast this week

Have you looked at behind the seats?? Mine is going to go behind the driver, with the alloy fuel tank behind the passenger.
I would guess there is a lot of wire extensions to be done if you are going to move the battery to the front.

No the standard place is to mount behind the seat, putting it in the passanger footwell will mean the wiring will be shortened as there is only one wire running to the battery from the front, the earth lead just needs to mount to the body really the mount on the ppf is just a backup. Ive tried this with only one earth and everything still works fine.

I think you will loose to much in the Pas footwell - what about a racing one mounted laterally alongside the gearbox couling, or even ontop of it?

Or just a standard battery behind the passenger seat. Helps put a bit of weight to off balance the drivers weight when driving on your own or taking the wife out to scare her! I am putting a couple of rally door nets on the passenger footwell to put hats scarfs etc in

Yeah it does loose too much leg room, I've tried a few possibilities but have decided today to go for mounting it behind the passanger seat. I've got the week off but now have other things to do as the mrs is off as well so will see how much i can get done. Today I've mounted the fuel lines under the car, secured the handbrake cables, routed the main battery cable, made an exhaust hanger, fitted the rear subframe lower brace and fixed to the chassis. Exhaust hanger was simple, lined up the hanger and put a bolt through, done. Fitted the rear brace bar and mounts, as others have found out these line up perfectly. Well .... as the case not at all, had to drill out the two holes then cut off the two extra bars on the brace. I used bolts for the front but because i had to drill the rear mounts it drilled out the threads in the captive nuts so put nuts and bolts through. The main part and time consuming part of the day was the fuel lines. I started with the rear pipes, i reused part of the original hard lines but bent them to suite. Then used some of the old electrical conduit to protect from chaffing on the tank. Made a bracket out of some off cut of the plastic paneling to support the pipes and attached to the top of the tank. Next i drilled the holes for the fuel pipes brackets, got these off ebay and they work great, and were really cheap too. I also reused the fuel pipes from the engine for the rear, this is also protected. I also secured the handbrake cables, the drivers side i cut the bracket off and used a cable tie with a washer through the subframe, and the passanger side i used the original bracket on the cable and fastened to the back of the chassis. So it's been a good day so far, got the night free as the mrs has gone out so making a cuppa then back out to start on the new list of things I now have

Quick observation, where your fuel lines run from the top of fuel tank, down the rear bulk head past the lip of the tank make sure you have enough room to put the rear pod on. Mine was very tight indeed with the angle needed to get the pod on. Excuse my comment if already thought of this and it's fine.

Hi yes i did think about the space available, I was just going to bend the end of the tank down to make a little more room, as its got the conduit on i wasn't planning on putting edging trim on but suppose it won't do any harm.
