Finally had a chance to drive it properly last Sunday, and had an absolute blast! Just needed to be mindful of the speed from time time ;-) if I want to retain my license! Acceleration is effortless compared to the mx5

Today was the first time on the motorway as I went towards Newbury for the day and the weather was favourable The car was fine and more stable than I thought - sadly the restricting factor was the driver! I've yet to fit a fly screen, even with a full helmet you get a battering from the wind so it does put you off initially going fast.
However one problem which did crop up after an hour driving was I noticed the temperature was very high all of sudden, so I quickly pulled over for a quick look in case a hose had popped off - thankfully not. After a chance for temperature to return to normal (fan running) I had to top up the water and carried on my way constantly monitoring the gauge all was fine. On the return journey, again, I monitored the temp while it rise slowly but not going down I was able to pull in to the services for a bite to eat and cool down. With the bonnet off again to check water level while the engine was running I spotted the fan belt had some slack in the tension... possibly causing the water pump to slip thankfully a simple fix once back home So for others out there, remember to recheck adjustments and torque up the wheel nuts etc. after getting the car on the road, its worth doing!

Get a flyscreen sorted Just a sheet of Perspex from Wickes and cut to suit. It helps deflect the air over your head rather than up your body under your lid. Transforms the driving experience. It doesn't need to be so big you look through it Check you haven't got an airlock. Also, what mesh are you using? I noticed the standard one supplied was a bit dense and restricted the air to the rad.

sadly putting my Exocet up for sale now as i need to make space for existing and future projects www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155591371615the car has run reliably in the 8 years its been built, the only stuff i've done since the build is to upholster the seats to match the rest of the colour theme and keep it maintained. i'll be adding a pair of flyscreens if the new owner want them - i just got used to having bugs in my teeth thus never got round to fitting any.
