Did you start with a new engine or was it from a donor ?

I've been looking at mtech as they seem a fair bit cheaper than omex. What was your experience like with them and the engine itself ?

We didn't actually deal with them directly. The engine was already in when we bought the rocket but it hadn't got through it's IVA, failing on emissions. If you go the MTech ECU route I would get it mapped directly with them as RTR had problems with our MTech ECU. Having said that, the Omex we eventually went for was running dangerously lean before we got it mapped properly. We were under the impression the Omex had been mapped by RTR when fitted, but apparently not so.

I have 2 maps for a Omex600, both for a 2L. One std engine, other std with throttle bodies. Should not need a RR. My advise is when buying a ECU, buy something that a local tuner can map and people know. No point in having a ECU no-one can map no matter how cheap.
Mark, I fitted a 14" fan (not a kenlowe) and it fitted fine. I think the max fan size you can use is 14.5" on a 1.6 rad. PS I used a pull fan.

Yes, the 14" fan fits on the 1.6 rad, with not a lot of room to spare. We took Andy Chalmers advice and fitted it as a "pull" unit rather than "push" as what he said seemed to make a lot of sense. For mapping, we took it to a rolling road in Congleton, and paid £300 which is about the going rate for most re-maps. Omex seems to be a good choice for local tuners, as most people seem to know Omex ECU's.
