It's always great to hear of planned modifications to the standard product, after all you are building your own car so customising it is quite normal and encouraged. My concern is as always the question "will a xyz engine fit?" The question should be not will it fit but how can I modify the engine and gearbox mounts, the gear shift cables, the exhaust with CAT and manifold, drive shafts, rear uprights, rear calipers with handbrake facility and more importantly, is it possible to run the ecu from a car that was designed for a different set up? The other issue is weight distribution, we know the 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 Rocket handles extremely well when set up properly but all engines and gearbox configurations play a part on the dynamics. RTR also have a sorted Toyota option, I have fitted the MTX gearbox and the Getrag from an ST to Rockets but it makes life a little more difficult. The car is great as is IMO, but then I would say that wouldn't I! If you happen to have a XYZ engine sat in your garage then bang it on ebay and buy a Focus, it will save you a lot of trouble and money in the long run.
