Past weeks my work, holiday, social life and some unexpected home improvements, kept me busy. Anyhow in the time between I managed to sell parts from my donor bike and picking up missing parts. Finally found and ordered a coupling that should match the Sierra steering rack. After receiving this I have to find a way to get the mechanism working between the pedals. It will be a very tight fit. At a breakers yard I found my Focus Mk1 gear shifter with cables. However it was still mounted in the wrecked car. Agreed I can pick it up later this week. Also ordered parts for the plumbing. Originally the radiator is the highest point in the cooling system. For the new situation it is not. Thinking: - how fill the system? Lifting the front end of the car before filing or making a new filling point? - where to place the expansion tank? By the way: I painted the pedals.....

I think normally the expansion tank is the highest point, otherwise air would be trapped inside the system, resulting the cooling system to fail... But I'm not really sure... To fill it: first find out how much coolant you need (must be written somewhere in the specs). You will need more then that because of the extra piping and hoses, the amount can be calculated... Then just fill the system until it looks full. Squeeze some hoses to make the air come out. Start the engine so the waterpump will create a flow. Always make sure the expansion tank keeps full! At a certain point, the themostatic valve will open and the radiator will be filled. Air will come out so keep the the coolant at the correct level. Keep squeezing some hoses in the mean time until the coolant level keeps steady and you see coolant come out of the little expansion hose. If you don't trust it, you can also try to open a hose clamp somewhere high in the system to vent air and to check if there also is coolant. Careful, HOT!

Last weekend had some time to work on my tR1ke. Being an electronic engineer, doing mechanics is different and takes more time. (But I am proud of my result...) The modified gearshifter: I have blocked the left-right movement by some bindings and cut the according lever: The difficult part of the shifter:

Picked up the front wheels: Made a support for the radiator: From the Dutch Marktplaats (eBAY-like) purchased rails (Left original, right modified.):

My car is on wheels and the wheels are on small trolleys to maneuver the car around the garage: Further more I am working on the steering rack. Have to find out how the quick rack will fit....

Last week was plumbing time! I am rising the center tunnel by 2,5 cm (1 inch) so more space and easier to mount the aluminum tunnel (spout on proper English?).

Nice! Did you already had the opportunity to think about the handbrake? I'm wondering how to fit the handle...

Thanks. I already fitted the caliper, but wondered how to fit the handle. I have another solution for the caliper by the way... Mine slides along with the weel in case of adjusting the drivechain. Also, my normal brake caliper is fitted on the upper side of the disc (model 2004...)

I thing the RTR solution is only there so the car will pass IVA. I am having doubs that the handbrake is good working. You caliper fitting solution is very neat! I think mine will be mounted with an aluminum spacer. BTW Do we need a handbrake in the Netherlands to comply with Dutch RDW legislations? Officially in the Netherlands the tR1ke is a "motor bike with three symmetrical placed wheels". And I have not seen a passage that stated a handbrake must be present?
