was actually looking at the blitz beast, and after a bit of a disaster factory visit still decided to trust him to build us a buggy , we went through build list and I asked for 2 x threaded holes in front of chassis for towing eyes and tyres that could travel at motorway speeds ( advertised at 140mph and supplied with 60mph tyres !!!! ) , price jumped up nearly £10k from what he told us as had new led lights, new wiring harness , etc , etc , but the old ones weren't available any more ?? £25k for a road legal buggy , I don't think so . finally he agreed on original price he had quoted us at kit car show £15k as had all parts ready to build it , but wanted £10k up front to which we declined so agreed £5k up front, £5k when built, £5k when iva done and we collect on new September 69 plate reg , he tells a great story of how he will do web page showing build progress , parts used , etc, etc, etc . nothing , nothing, busy with dx10s, busy repairing broken buggies, faults with new wiring harness, busy with shows , nothing . finally got sent a picture of a bare metal chassis and that was it September ( 3 months after deposit paid ) , came and went, mid October and fed up with it all , he has had a buggy fail iva and not sure if and when ours would be built or if he could iva it , deposit refunded and actually feel relived not got one of these problem buggies

Glad I'd spotted this post. I've been prowling the blitz world web page recently and feeling tempted for my next toy.

I just read on their website that they used the Honda Type R engine (K20 or K24). That's what I am using, outstanding choice!

That's what I am using, outstanding choice! the guy is just full of it , blaming customers who build there own buggies for failures , just excuse, excuse, excuse , i think if you want to part with £21k for a off road buggy with a 2l zetec you may be ok but i cant justify that as i value at max £10k when i come to sell it , go and see him but dont believe a word he tells you as nothing he said transpired you will be called top bannana , every other word will be a swear word, he will tell you how good and committed he is, he will promise photos , communication, build diary and you will get nothing , we figured it was a interest free loan he had from us and others before refunding us

It's a superb choice of engine though as it has a lot of torque, not that it's needed in such a light car. The thing that I don't like about almost all buggies is that the roll cage looks like an afterthought. They are very square, very tall and look awful. I am looking to 'blend' mine into the chassis more. I keep looking at the Rocket and how every part of it was thought through, it really is a great piece of design and enineering in my opinion. So I am looking to design something along those lines, but more rugged and with higher ground clearance.

Sorry to hear the stories about Blitz world, very disappointing. Incorporating an aesthetically pleasing cage can be a challenge, there are lots of attempts around that fulfil the purpose of offering protection but all too often they fail in the eye candy department. Rocket as an example has a low dash line, add sufficient height for a cage that clears a helmet and the resultant tall "screen" appears to spoil the stance balance. Another approach is to create something that in my opinion looks like an accident in an exhaust pipe factory. Curved tubes that attempt to draw the eye across a structure merely add weight and very little to strength as below. Starting with the dash at a reasonable height will open up all sorts of screen options, a Smart Roadster screen is used below. Creating a roll cage requires careful consideration of the apparent "screen" angle and chord. Too upright and it will look like a Defender with the aerodynamic qualities of a bus.

More off road? I've taken my Rocket off road many times! I do have to admit that - a) Each time it happened it was not the intention and b) Whilst spectacular onward progress after the resulting stop tended to be limited

I built a Suzuki Blitz about 20 years ago, it was based on the a Suzuki SJ or the Samurai. I’d had a few sj’s over the years for off-roading and this conversion lost it a lot of weight and made it even more capable. Another big advantage it was IVA exempt as it retained the original chassis. I sold it in the end but often miss it, it would show up a lot of off roaders. I’d recommend one if you can find one they must pop up on EBay. I wonder did the creator of the Suzuki Blitz evolve the company into BlitzWorld.....? Or maybe sold his design to them? I found this on YouTube. This is actually the one I built but it’s changed colour and looks like it’s now on coils on the rear. Oh and now looks like its LHD?? 🤔 I did sell it to some Polish guys (I think they were) so maybe it’s gone abroad but that’s definitely my old registration. It would be good to put one of these conversions on a Jimny and make it a bit more current and on coils instead of leafs like an SJ.
