Well it's time to give an update on things so far! Changed the clock cluster and found all ok, finished the bonnet and fitted the mirrors. I made a screen out of some poly carb sheet, but am also aware this will need removing prior to IVA, I got the rear silencer and made the rest of the pipe work up at work, sounds a little throaty on Tickover but is very noisy high up in the rev band. I rubbed down the seats and sprayed to match the car then stuck some race foam on them (seats £15 foam £10 glue £3 ) not a bad finish. Wheel guards are glassed on with premix then over coated with fibre matting. Things to do::: Fit the off side indicator, waiting for fog and reversing lights to arrive, the fit the rear pod. Battery box here but not fitted, have a harness bar which is at work at the mo being finished this week then off for coating. Cost so far. Including buying the kit but scrounging everything I could during the build, which included all the mx5 parts powder coated for free through work, poly bush kit and shocks from a lad who trashed his car before fitting at a bargin of £60. Spread sheets showing £4192:96 this includes buying some extra tools, rivnut ect.

Hi Gwnwar, nice to hear from you again, primed the pump using the cross wire and got the pipe under full pressure! But still no go! Finished lots of little jobs this afternoon then put my foot to the floor to start it up to put back in the garage! Result.... bit of a back fire then all was well. Drove it around for a few minutes tried all the gears Idle speed is fine, bit rich on the fuel smell but that's a small problem, all is good. ?

So the girls back out the garage and starts up, then dies after about 2 seconds. Fuel pump coil and everything else seems ok! Anyone got some ideas?

Hi guys, well after a 2 year 2 month stop on the build due to personal reasons I now feel fit enough to forge ahead. She's been parked in the garage with a sheet on all this time, the missus has maintained a work area around it and the tools are where I left them. We're dropping out of the rat race to have more time together and buying a canal narrowboat. Changing my job this next week which will give me the time to get back on it, I think there's about 40hours work left to get it ready for the iva.

Looking good Trident, nice to see some new touches and ideas, just thought i'd wing an idea over to you... while at Stoneleigh i measured up the rear cover of a rocket, not sure which model it was but it appears to fit the exocet with very minor changes. The thought pattern i was looking for seemed to work with the rocket rear panel... it was the one that has a sort of rear opening boot or engine service panel. I'd hoped to fit this on my exocet and make a false floor in it above the petrol tank so as to give a lockable storage area. Not sure on how your final plans are on your rear panel rebuild, but the storage area would certainly work on that. Take a look at some of the rocket pics and you will see what i mean. Cheers Stevieboy.

Ahh Mr Brunt, well spotted, but if you look at the changes on the back end of the car in my thread, you will see that i would indeed need two balls.
