I built a Suzuki Blitz about 20 years ago, it was based on the a Suzuki SJ or the Samurai. I’d had a few sj’s over the years for off-roading and this conversion lost it a lot of weight and made it even more capable. Another big advantage it was IVA exempt as it retained the original chassis. I sold it in the end but often miss it, it would show up a lot of off roaders. I’d recommend one if you can find one they must pop up on EBay. I wonder did the creator of the Suzuki Blitz evolve the company into BlitzWorld.....? Or maybe sold his design to them? I found this on YouTube. This is actually the one I built but it’s changed colour and looks like it’s now on coils on the rear. Oh and now looks like its LHD?? 🤔 I did sell it to some Polish guys (I think they were) so maybe it’s gone abroad but that’s definitely my old registration. It would be good to put one of these conversions on a Jimny and make it a bit more current and on coils instead of leafs like an SJ.

Yes exactly, good luck with that sale...... I’d like to know where £40k went? You’d be better off breaking it if that’s the case.

I’m running an st170 engine with a supercharger with an ib5 with a Quaife diff. It made 223 bhp and about 187 ft1b’s torque. I’ve done several track days with no problems. It’s not trying to move the full weight of a Focus which helps.

Hi Joker, Just looking at the fuel tank in the 1st picture of your thread, Did it pass the IVA with the fuel filler cap bolted directly to the top of the tank? Just been reading some other posts and it mentioned you could not fill the fuel tank via the cockpit? Cheers BAT304X I believe this was ok in the early days you could have the fuel cap on top of the fuel tank. Then the IVA rules changed so you couldn’t have the fuel tank opening/cap in the drivers compartment thus the introduction of the nasty fibreglass cover over the fuel tank that many Rockets have, with a fuel hose through the rear bulkhead to a fuel cap in the engine cover.

I used Peugeot on the rear of Sonic as some of those had 15 ET and therefore gave a wider rear track. This is subject to clearance of wing stays. For front of Rocket I used 35 ET otherwise you will change the scrub radius. Was the classic Rocket designed to use a ET35 offset wheel on the front? There seems to be so much variation in what people fit? In the original build guide it states the demo car is fitted with ET30 wheels, Mabbs used a ET40 others have used ET25............... I assume it was designed with an offset in mind to give the correct scrub radius for the vehicle and any variation from this will surely have an adverse affect on handling and feel. So is ET35 the ideal wheel offset for the front of a Classic Rocket that is was originally designed for?

Just out of interest why are the drivshafts a problem? Would you need custom driveshafts? You have a 5 speed MTX 75 gear box from an mk1 RS focus. Assuming the previous builder also fitted the matching hub flanges from an RS you should be ok with RS drive shafts......or drive shafts from Mk1 2.0 NA petrol focus which also had a MTX75 gearbox. Not sure if the hub flanges splines would be the same though....2.0 vs 2.0 RS? Should be but I’m not 100% I’m sure both differential splines would be the same on both MTX75 gearbox’s, I may be wrong but I’m sure they wouldn’t change that when they put it in the RS. Im sure people have fitted the MTX 75 without any drive shaft issues. ie length...... You need to determine what flanges have been fitted. If RS focus flanges then these should be ok. Anyway these should fit your gearbox and if they’re wrong the flange end you need to find the right flanges....... rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F132219486002rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F142408020262Hi Edward I know this was a while ago but I have started building a RTR MEV Rocket II with RS Focus MK1 engine and box. Instead of the turbo I have a Rotrex Supercharger C30-94. My problem is the driveshafts. How did you sort this on your car? How did you car turn out in the end power/handling etc? No the puma ib5 gearbox is not the same as a mk1 focus 1.8 zetec ib5 gearbox, so will not work. The casings are different. You could use the LSD from out of one but they are pretty rare as not all Ford Racing Puma’s had them fitted.

I have a standard close coupled CAT for a 2.0 that would bolt to a standard manifold.......It’s done 1000 miles.
