Hi all I am Dave. I am in Queensland Australia. I have been researching kit cars for a while and would really like to build a Rocket or Sonic 7. The ford zetec is getting old and hard to get here and the only crate engine I have found is $4900.00 aud. I am considering a Honda v6 engine from a Accord. The ideal would be a Rocket mk2 but not sure if they ever went into production. The old importer over here is winding down and not bringing them in any more and the Chassis mods done for Australia were done by RTR in the uk before they closed. I am looking at bringing a sonic in from Equilibrium and modding the engine bay and back suspension to suit the v6. I have been offered a clubman style kit from Southam Engineering over here but donors for front engine rwd are getting hard to come by and the lotus 7 style car has been done to death over here and I know of at least 5 in my immediate area. Any comments or recommendations welcome.
Looking forward to an interesting build. CheersDave

Hi all I have ordered the kit now and started on the donor demolition. Finally settled on a Honda 2.3l dohc non vtec turbo for the car. I started a thread in the build section. Cheers

Hey All
Bummer .. Found out I can not use this engine as it came from a car too old. I have to get hold of the identical block from a later engine and go from there.
Now looking at using the VTec 2.2 engine with the rods from the 2.3 and low comp pistons to start with about 8.3:1 compression ratio for the turbo. Should be good as around town I can keep it under 5000 rpm and it will be quite tractable and the I can open it up to 9000 when angry. I think it will be interesting when the VTec kicks in under full boost.
Cheers Dave
