Thats an interesting silencer designer, how are the 2 pipes inside linked? Is it just a U bend at the other end? Good solution for a restricted area.

Hi Stu There is a U bend joining the two perforated tubes, but it looks as though the inside of the bend is cut away (could be a trick of the light) to allow expansion into the end chamber.

After what seems like forever I now have a functioning exhaust system fitted Just need to tidy the hole around the tailpipe.
Now to get on with finishing off all the little jobs for IVA, although I'll leave it until early spring. Cheers Steve

Thanks for that wishful, but my tailpipe is elliptical so they wont work. I'll just leave a gap all round the tailpipe as the exhaust is rigidly fixed to the engine so will move when the engine is under load. I may put some edge trim round it, haven't decided yet, it will probably depend on what I have left!

Hi Steve, just looking at this pic again, and I think you have your rear wing end plates the wrong way around. Stu.

Hi Stu
That is entirely possible, I couldn't decide which way round to put them when I first fitted them. I ended up fitting them (I think) so the top of the plate more closely followed the shape of the wing. All the wings are off the car now ready for IVA but I was waiting for the weather to improve before applying, but no hope of that for while now at least and it is gathering dust. Still at least I don't have the temptation of going out for an "unnecessary" drive to alleviate the lockdown boredom!
Cheers Steve

The Sonic now has a baby brother to keep it company while the current conditions continue. It was supposed to keep me occupied for a while, but with nothing else to do it has taken less than 4 weeks to finish. Heaven knows when I'll be able to give it to my grandson though. At this rate I'm going to have to start some proper jobs like gardening! Cheers Steve

Hi Steve. I'm using the floor mounted pedals for my build and was wondering about the placing of them vs the steering column and steering column brackets. Angus suggested you might be able to say how you did yours. Many thanks.

Hi Alison The steering column will pass an inch or two above the brake pedal. It's hard to see in the photo below but the uj is behind the pedal, it's the plain shaft that's above the pedal (I hope that makes sense). I now know my wiring is a mess

I had fitted bonnet poppers to secure the bonnet on my Sonic, but following Morgan's experience on the Exocet section where his poppers failed, I have replaced them with Aerocatches. Doesn't look as good but better to be safe than sorry!
I think they would look better painted to match the bonnet, so has anyone painted them and if so, how successful was it?
Cheers Steve
