Good evening ! I purchased a wicked rocket couple weeks back now, some of you may no as KATE. Having much fun with her but also had a couple dramas. I’m curious to see if anyone has had this problem. Hopefully u can see the picture. It’s the engine mount. Thanks Sean image url

I had a similar problem but bent in the other direction.
I straitened the original mount then made a top and bottom plate from 6mm aluminium sandwiching the orginal mount.
Then made a 6mm spacer plate for the engine which I put under the mounting plate to return the engine to level.

I would check the torsion mount, (in the middle at the back on the lower chassis rail) This may be weak and allowing excess movement, which would allow excess engine rocking, which would allow the centre bolt on the bent mount to pull up as it rolls.
You can support the engine and remove the mount in question, hammer back to shape.
A little worrying that there is no sign of base coat on the powder coating and rust has taken hold on that mount. You should check every where on the chassis for bare metal, remove rust and touch up straight away before it spreads.

To me it looks like two things; the powdercoat wasn't primed properly, so you're getting sub-surface rust; you'll have to strip it back and do it over; probably with paint.
Second thing; the bending direction suggests to me that the car was lifted from underneath, supported at the gearbox or sump. Is there heavy scratching or indentation on the places that the jack would have been placed? My engine is currently suspended by the gearbox while I cut off the gearbox mount to move it. Hard to imagine the bouncy-bouncy of driving would cause that.
Great car though, serious go in Kate.

Also I note that although a nylock nut was used there does not seem to be threads protruding through the nut which is a requirement for them to work.
Ideally two threads minimum should protrude.
If the thread is simply too short then use a lock washer under the nut.

Hi, thanks for all the replies. So I’ve fixed Kate, the black plate was in the wrong place. It should of been under the square plate not above it. We had a good run yesterday all day until.... her clutch went. So she’s back in the garage having a new clutch. Uprated to a 5 paddle clutch with Castrol srf racing fluid from CG motorsport. Hoping she be back ready for next weekend.
I’ve just found out about the kit car meet in May. How do I jump on the band wagon for this ? I would love to cruise up and meet you guys? Or get on stand with Kate ? Any help is much appreciated Thanks Sean
