Acewell gauges usually can be set for different sensor resistances, basic check - disconnect sensor wire at fuel tank and short to ground, gauge should show full and empty if circuit is OK.

The first question I'd ask is did you change the length of your sender arm when you went from donor tank to MEV/RTR tank? Ford Focus tank is ~12c high, RTR one is 30cm, so that'll make a huge difference. My Koso gauge isn't natively the same 'way up' as the Ford console; low resistance is full rather than empty. The best way, and it's not cheap at £40, is to stick a Spyda fuel gauge wizard between your gauge and sender. You set the empty, 1/4... all the way to full on the gauge with one setting, and the same 5 graduations for the fuel in the tank with another setting. So whatever shape your tank is, and whatever way your gauge interprets that isn't important, it'll always be spot on. I got mine for £30 at Stoneleigh, and no postage either, so if you're there, definitely pick one up. mevowners.proboards.com/post/102145/thread
