PVC side panels - 5mm edge trim on order. Filler cap - the key is removable so I have the cap on a tether. Speedo Backlight - all good. Triangle panel - I have cut them out just waiting on some p-clips to arrive so I can attach them to the frame. One issue I have is with the front top wishbones. I replaced them but the spindle bolt (that fits into the hub carrier) is too short. I’m guessing I have mk1 wishbones on my Mk2 hub carriers! What’s my best option here? Grind down the hub carrier or get (more) new wishbones?

I assume you mean top ball joint when you mention spindle bolt. The taper is probably incorrect thus not allowing deep enough seating, grinding off the nut surface of the upright in that case is a serious no no.

Yes, it’s the top ball joint - agreed, grinding is a bad idea! I have ordered some MK2 replacements which I will press in, hopefully in-situ.

As can be seen below the front top control arm ball joint thread for the Mk1 (NA) is a fair bit shorter than the Mk2 (NB). Just a word of warning to anyone buying control arms... they are different. I had already fitted my polybushes, grease nipples (zerks) and banana braces to these so I decided on new ball joints and pressed them in. Just for good measure I also spot welded them.

Perfect, well done. A little worrying that some of the MX5 parts suppliers do not seem to know that the NA top ball joint differs from the NB! Clearly you now have the correct items.

I made the side triangle panels out of pvc offcuts and attached them with p-clips. I used some door seal edging to close the gap. I mounted the original interior mirror with a single bolt. I’ll probably change this later post IVA. The wheels are getting powder coated black tomorrow and fitted with new rubber (Interstate 205/50 R15).

Wheels turned out really nice. I can recommend Rolling Rims in Dunmow, Essex.

IVA booked for 6th Feb - DVSA Leighton Buzzard. Insurance with Adrian Flux (£130) and I just bought a number plate too “G5 EXO”. Just need to get 4 wheel alignment done and I’m all set!

Good luck. Have followed your build a lot and used many photos as reference for my build. Can I ask how long it took to get the appointment after sending off the application. I am also going to Leighton Buzzard as I live in Milton Keynes and I am very close to finish. Cheers.

I booked the first available slot last week, so currently I would say the lead time for Leighton Buzzard is about 4 weeks. Note: I was also told all slots for our class of test start at 8am at that station.
