Hi Everyone
I have been looked for a hobby/something to do at the weekend for a while now since a sold my bike some years ago and thought four wheels are safer than two and thought lets build a car!
I have order it for Angus at Equilibrium (very helpful chap).
After some consideration i decided to go with a Seat Leon Cupra R There will be a bit modifications as its made for a MK1 focus but all part of the fun!
The destruction, i mean progress so far. A bit like the A Team in reverse.
Got the car into the garage this was a job in its self-must do some clearing out of “come in handy stuff” to make a start on things.
Starting with taking off the doors and front bumper. I managed to dead lock the rear passenger door so that became a job in its self.
The bumper had some hiddnt nuts and blots but cam off ok i did find a led looking item near the front right fog light as you look at the front of the car not sure wht that is.
Now i moved onto the front suspension and brakes, by the look of the rust on the uprights i think this car liked the going to the beach!
Took off the subframe and steering rack they came off pretty easy.
Next armed with a labelling machine i set about marking everything in site although this decedec to stop working half way through so i resorted to insulation tape and a pen.
Got everything in sight marked up took the drive shafts on and disconnected the clutch pipe gear linake and exhaust.
As there is not a great deal of room i decided to put one of our troleyy under the engine the lower the car onto it unbolt the engine and jack it up.
this went quite well after i undid the heater pipes hiding at the back and yet another connector on the gear box!
one very large engine Dosent look to bad the car drove well on the way back had a vibration on the front gut discover the lower suspension bushes perished. Does have oil all over the gearbox once its back i do some further investigations. The engine has 80k on it while its out and i waitng on the soinc ill put some rings and shells in it do all the belts and gaskets.
Next on my hit list is these bits
Steering column
Handbrake
Gear lever
Throttle pedal
Then take them to Angus and make the engine fit in!
Ill post more soon thanks for reading.
