What's everyone's thoughts on the "wedge" rear of the Replicar vs the more rounded shape of the original? I prefer the rounded shape. Any reason the Replicar is so different in the rear end?

The green car is Stuarts early, no doors or boot, version, the latest Replicar has a slightly improved rear (more rounded). I understand shape to be as a result of IVA requirements but Ive always thought it wasnt particularly pretty when compared to the original and I plan to modify my body (chassis 6 so same body as green one above) by shortening (and thereby making more rounded).

I have always considered the Replicar a tribute to the DBR1 or DBR1 inspired shape. It will have different dimensions anyway because of the MX5 underpinnings. There is also a history of main stream manufacturers breaking out the legal team whenever a kit car manufacturer gets too close to one of their cars so exact copies are rare. The other point is as Stuart states the rear end has been made to meet IVA requirements. Now I have finished defending the Replicar I should say that I agree that the original DBR1 shape is very pretty and the rounded rear end is a big part of that.
The DBR1 pictured in your example is actually a replica, cheaper than an original but still six figures. If you want to own a 1950's racer the Replicar is a solid option and unbeatable on price, even if the rear end could be nicer.

There are of course other Aston Martin DBR1 look alikes on offer, 14-20 times the price of Replicar!

The mirrors on that replica are useless. I know that on a track anything behind you is not important but not so on the road. I would imagine it is a frustrating car to drive with little idea as to what is behind you.

I dissagree with nothing you posted Stuart but it did remind me of the "What did the Romans ever do for us" speech in Monty Python Even more so when you "paused for breath", a couple of other posts went in and then you added more Mint.

I love my rear end! Is this the revised rear end? Do you have photos of the doors when open? What other mods where made from the original replicar?

The square shut line in the rear cover has gone now, I have also moved my filler under the boot. Doors and boot now open, I am working on a concealed hinge kit right now. Please see the blog here for pictures of the door opening at the bottom of page 2. mevowners.proboards.com/thread/3761/build-blog?page=2

Will be ordering soon. How long till you have a concealed hinge done on the car?
