Hi, trust everyone is well and in good health. Finally been able to mount 135 on the rim. Took to a shop that does industrial machines along with cars and motorbikes. After spending 45 minutes trying various tricks with a gunk kind of sealant, they used a different hose (squirts more air) to fill the tire. Seems this one is used to inflate tractor tires, it did the trick. Looking at a small roll over hoop now. Cheers for now.

Yes, you NEED that small roll-over hoop to go above the seats top. You should snap a like from the nose (Bonnet) to the top of where you helmet's top is and make the hoop about 2 or more inches higher, due to seatbelt slack body slump in a roll over. Don't want to be sliding on your noggen.

Looks good. Just so long you do not get a flat you should be in good shape. I see you managed to get some storage behind the seat.
I think that was the hard part when I had the criteria to have storage in mine. With the hard side cases the radiator had to go to the front because of space issues. Roger fixed that with the rear top case but I liked the look of side cases so I went that route.
The trike is so small that makes it harder to design around the existing frame. Not that it cannot be done but just takes more time to get it right.
An extension for the roll bar can be fabricated using the existing holes used for the shoulder harness. That should be pretty easy to do and still be strong to boot.
A couple more months and I will be triking again. I was able to find a new set of Metzeler tires for the fronts and rear for $170 US shipped so not too bad.

Hi, thanks for the comments and suggestions re roll hoop. I found a fabricator close to my place but he did not have tube bending machine, so bought an old hoop from small Ford Ka convertible. The roll hoop arrived and it is huge for a small car, 3 inch tube which is bigger than the 2.25 used on trike frame. I was thinking of welding the hoop to existing frame, but fabricator suggested that it will be a lot of work to take off powder coat and then refinish. so going the route to fabricate nuts into the hoop and use seat belt holes as anchor.
Fabricator did the tube cutting to match the frame today, took about 2 hours. Going again next week Wednesday to weld and finish the job, I am not sure the finish will be as good as a welded piece but lets see.
Now, only if someone could install HIT clutch and some head shimming, it am done doing mods on the trike. Perhaps......
Also leaning towards a Bimota SB6R (almost brand new old machine, less than 1K miles) vs CBX1000 (done only 10K) - any suggestions which one should I go far if I am riding may be max 2K miles per year on motorbike.
CBX for sound and Bimota as a package. Pity can't get both.....

I like the look of your Eco-Exo. The new tires and all the goodies you could want on a small vehicle. I especially like the seat. Once you get your roll cage hoop installed post more photos. I have been looking for a place to mount my GoPro. Looking at your camera stick off your right shoulder is a good spot. I believe I may follow your lead. I have to say your build looks very personalized and appears quite intimidating... (fast). You have done well tying in all of your ideas and design concepts into such a small trike. Well done!
I communicated with Fred Bernardo in Pennsylvania. He is scheduling some time to Visit a friend here in New England and asked to stop by to see my Eco-Exo. He didn't have a time frame but said he will let me know when.
My Eco-Exo is still happily sleeping the winter out beneath several layers of sheets and blankets. It won't be long before I do the servicing and get it ready for the spring. Today is -18°C or 0°F, so it won't be today. Looking forward to decent riding weather SOON!..:-)

Hi , roll hoop done. Sent for paint, will get it by tomorrow/day after as awaiting longer bolts. I haven't been able to get any garage interested to install HIT clutch for me and was wondering if this is something I can do. Also having issues sourcing the correct version as most websites showing 03 year onwards. I am in contact with a company in US who have asked me to measure dia of clutch plate to confirm fitting. www.partsforscooters.com/169-454_HiT_ClutchIs this something I can install at home along with fitting Dr Pulley sliders to existing variator? Thanks Babr

Dr. Pulley HiT Clutch 261301 should fit. We only had the 2003 and up so not 100% positive but from all I have read should be the same.
Here are some videos' to show how it is done.

Babr, Edward posted some good info there. Also we have an excellent group of Burgman 400 owners over on burgmanusa.com/forums/14-burgman-400-pre-2007/ The forum is BurgmanUSA but it is not just for USA owners. We have members from all over the world so they should have someone that knows about the pre 2002-2007 that came to the USA markets.

I seen your post over on BurgmanUSA. I hope someone answers your question. I know very little about the 400's. Anything 650 I know well.

Hi Ed, took the plunge. Have taken off covers but stuck with variator and clutch housing nut. Ordered variator lock tool, so yes; will be getting Hit soon. Any other place for cheaper prices would be great. Shipping from US is USD60. May be once confirmed with model number, will try to source from EU if possible.
Thanks
Babr

Hi, been able to take off clutch and variator. Few questions, if I may: 1. The clutch has 5 shoes, Dr Pulley for 03-06 has 3 and for 07 onwards has 4 shoes, rest all seems same. Does it matter? 2. I will have to take the clutch housing to a shop as unable to free the big nut to get it off, any home hacks around it? 3. Belt is fine from outside but hairline cracks from inside (where the rubber cog joins the belt) , is that normal? 4. What can you see from the state of rollers regarding wear? 5. I understood there should be no grease in the CVT, mine has good amount on the shaft? Is that ok? 6. I broke a fin (outside) from the variator while using the pulley tool, do I need to replace it? 7. Any comments on clutch pads wear? Trike has done 2K miles, original mileage was around 18K. No idea if new clutch was installed as the spring is badly corroded and I am not able to press it at all.

1. My HIT clutch has three shoes. The 07 and up are 10mm larger with 4 shoes.
2. I used a smooth jaw pipe wrench that someone held tight to the nut while I hit the end with a mallet to break free.
3. Belt width should be 23.85 to 24.1 mm when new.
4. Hard to tell without looking at the complete face to see if there are any flat spots.
5. Make sure the seal is not leaking.
6. Not sure on this. Most likely should be ok. I am very careful when removing or installing the Variator and modifying a tool to make sure I do not apply stress on one tiny point.
7. The pads seem to look ok. Now is the time for a tuneup since you have it all apart. Take some pictures of the faces of the variator to see if any grooves have worn in. Also take a picture of the Clutch Bell and the diameter of that to see if it is the same as mine.
