Frequently Asked Questions
Who can come?
This event is not open to the general public. However, if you are a member of this forum or have an interest in any of the MEV products, then you are very welcome.
As it is live-action motorsport, pets are not allowed. (for registered guide dogs, please PM the Management)
I've got a kit car right now, but am thinking of selling and building a MEV. Can I come along in it?
You are welcome to arrive in any vehicle. Participation in the track action, however, is reserved for MEV designed vehicles.
Can I bring along my family? Can we bring a picnic and make a day of it?
Of course! Obviously, smaller children must be supervised at all times. You are more than welcome to bring a picnic/BBQ. Also there is a catering facility on site, with strategically located waste bins. There is a fenced-off grass mound running along the majority of the straight where you can sit and view the entire circuit close up, enjoying the day's action in safety.
It's a long way - can we arrive Friday and camp?
There is free camping for MEV owners, Friday and Saturday, however if camping's not your thing there are many good B&Bs locally, including a Premier Inn. Next door is the Fradley Arms where excellent food can be obtained at a very reasonable price (look out for the £10 2 for 1 deals) Even if you're camping Friday night, you can take a drive out to enjoy an evening meal.
Toilets?
There are two toilet blocks: one at the entrance; the second, which includes wheelchair access, is next to the paddock.
Can I participate in any of the track action?
If your MEV is track worthy, licensed or even part-built (but deemed acceptable by the chief scrutineer) then you are welcome. Early booking is recommended as places are limited.
Can I bring a friend and let them drive my MEV?
As long as they have registered, paid and attended the necessary drivers briefing.
How about passengers?
Passengers are allowed as long as they have registered and paid; this can be done in advance or on the day. They do not need to attend the drivers briefing but will be required, under the driver's supervision, to abide by the same safety rules and dress code as anyone using the track.
Can I take my child out on track for a spin in my MEV?
Currently there are no prescribed height or age limits for passengers. However, common sense should be applied, in that they should be correctly dressed and securely seated. There are no restrictions for the parade lap photo shoot, which is without crash helmets at 5mph.
Why are the rules so strict?
They are fairly standard for this kind of event. The venue operates within the rules of the MSA (Motor Sport Association) and the organisers have to abide by them, thus demonstrating the legally required duty-of-care.
Why can't we have more than one vehicle on track at any one time?
Curborough is an MSA-approved 'sprint circuit' and is not licensed for simultaneous, multi-vehicle use.
If there are any further questions please post in the General Discussion thread.
