Alex,
Got a couple of questions on your wheels from the power steering thread...
Do those 17" wheels and tyres fit under the supplied wing stays? Will you need to recalibrate the speedo?
So far I have a donor and LOTS of questions...

Tlight, not thought of that sort of thing yet, was planning on swapping some nuts an bolts over on the build but found the mx5 uses a slightly different thread pattern than standard off the shelf bolts, so stuck with standard ones for now. had a nose at the other link you posted and at £19 seems a bargain!
Indigoblue, the wheels have 32mm spacers which move them out far enough to clear the wing stays, without the spacers they will not clear 205 wheels. In terms of size, with the 205/40/17 tyres they are only a few mm larger across than the 16 inch wheels, as these would have a 45mm wall size and similarly 15inch wheels with 50mm walls. so i dont think calibration is needed.

OK thanks, I was looking at going down the 17" route too. Got too engrossed in the minutae of tire calculators and gave up for the night.
Last question (for the moment!).
Where did you get the spacers from? I've had a hunt around and I can only find them on an american website. I'm sure they must be available in the UK - but can I find them???

Chanmenie, looks like the ones i have. 32 mm universal ones. standard spacers just slide over the existing bolts like a great big waher which is fine up to a certain point, however the MX5 bolts are on the hub and quite short, so the universal ones at 32mm have a bolt that threads onto the existing hub bolt and therefore lenghtens them. looks so much better with the wider stance and doesnt seem to affect the wirght of the steering at all either. Sorry Indigoblue, didnt see your question. got the spacers from ebay, they were £15 a pair. and are universal to fit the two different nut spacings. Alex

the later mx5 had the cat built into the downpipe like yours but the earlier ones had a seperate cat pipe ( I think the mk1 and 2 had the cat pipe and the mk2.5 built in) as for what to do either send it back and try and get your money back or fit the rest of a system from an earlier car including the cat as it'll need it for the iva

I stuck the stainless exhaust and decat on mine and took it for a cheeky spin (although slightly naughty i just stayed round the block) it makes a hell of a difference with the decat and exhaust. Its a pain theyre different, but i think theres a decat pipe available for the stainless exhaust you have, and the easiest and probably cheapest (asside from a refund) would be to iva it with the old exhaust and swap it out once passed. im sure some would frown upon that but needs must! Luckily mines a 91 so i dont need a cat. Alex

Bought from Jap Parts, when I rang them, they have no tech support, so contacted Jap Speed, who made it, I am awaiting an answer....

Alex, do you think this stainless manifold, connected to the stock cat and back section on a 1.8, 96, will pass an iva?

I sent the exhaust back, will wait until through IVA - may try and go to a MX-5 owners club event to find out what the answer is...
Alex,
Where did you end up mounting the petrol tank fuel filter, did you use the Mazda clamp? could you post a few shots?
Also, the routing of the front brake pipes to the calipers, how did you secure the flexy to rigid bracket to the front sub frame, how did you mount brake pipes, with brackets, p clips, etc, etc??
How far are you off IVA?

I have found that mounting the filler cap on the side of the cover means you can't fill the top 20% of the tank, flexible pipe form CBS will solve this so you can mount the cap in the top corner of the GRP. It would look better with a nice alloy cap though. The MX5 filter is rather large but there are lots of smaller ones suitable for injection available.
