Managed a few little bits today. Finally finished off the brakes and made an additional bracket for the ecu. When I started to add some of the wires I realised needed an extra bracket at the back to stop it pulling forward. Started to fit the loom took a while as I went along I taped up any connectors I don't think I need so can be easily eliminated and I stop picking each plug up 10 times a day. Rear handbrake cable clipped up as well. Need some new earth straps so will order some from CBS. Went to oulton park yesterday for a vintage motor racing event was alright except the on/off rain but picked up a few 1959/1960 pictures of the drb1 just for interest.

Been half term so had the boy this week but sneaked in garage one night and fitted one end of my engine earth (the dipstick one to chassis) just need to sort out the connection to chassis I'm thinking have to use rivnut.
Also bleed all the brakes but need to check them and make sure no leaks in daylight.

Baby steps, finished fitting one of the new earth straps decided not to rivnut as worried about the contact patch with powder coat so instead drilled through and sanded a bit of powder coat off and bolted the earth strap. Also fitted the rear earth strap behind passenger seat.
Made a bracket for horns, just mounted both horns on one of the brackets , mount one either side of the threaded section with a longer bolt and then locking but mounted it next to the rad. While thinking of horns attached the wires in the steering wheel for horn button.
Made a list of all the mystery wires I have not labeled its only about 6 and started to look at wiring diagrams but only managed to label one, current mystery is under the steering column I have a white and orange plug with two green wires which then run towards the ignition barrel. Hmmm any takers ? Can't find anything on my loom to match up.
Off to cpop this weekend which is actually where I saw the replicar this time last year for the first time parked up at the bottom of the hill climb. 12 months later I've a selection of bits which I hope will one day look like that.

I can go and check mine but I think you are talking about the induction loop for the chip in the key, with out it the chip can't power and no starty.
I am pretty good on the loom if you have any others. There are a few connectors that were never used on the donor so those might be what you have.

Finished earths this morning, battery earth, the main engine earth next to manifolds, one on the loom o/s/r near fuel tank and one f/n/s near heater section of loom.
Tried to start it but motor spins without catching something definitely missing I can't hear the fuel pump prime. With keys in at ignition point I put a small tester on the plug and no power to the fuel pump plug.
Clearly I'm missing something.

IT STARTS .......kinda.
Tweaked the wiring and now fuel pump primes, still wouldn't start back of my head I remembered to check I had the fuel feed and return fitted correctly switched them over and it started. Without exhaust I turned it off immediately as it fired, went to start a second time and it fires up but then revs without any throttle so had to shut it off before it red lined.
So need to tweak and redo the tank side of the rubber lines and filter.
Any clues on why it revs with throttle closed?

May have answered my own question, took intake off and throttle body is slightly open when pedal is fully up so need to adjust that so it's closed on idle I assume.

Throttle cable adjusted and it now starts and idles , admittedly it idles a bit high but that's for another day. Bigger issue was a fuel pipe split thankfully I was looking around the fuel system at the time so turned it off quickly. Had to remove the rear fuel lines and tank and order some more. Mystery why as it's the proper stuff or so was advertised.

The other end of hose in pic looks like it has a lite cut in it.. Better check all your hose.. How old is it.. if new bought take it back were you got it ask the WTF.. At least it wasn't on a rood trip or track..

Brand new and not the cheap stuff either, it's just one joint so maybe I've damaged the internal integrity maybe when fitting but at least happened on the test startup and was safe.
Need to order some more this week and a few bits and bobs while the catalogue is in my hand.
Probably be another week till its all back together and can test fire again.

Picking up gwnwar's point the pipe at the bottom in your picture (on the edge of the shot) does indeed look like it has a split.
Not sure how you'd damage the internal integrity when fitting (you'd need to do something pretty dramatic), if you purchased from a reputable supplier I'd take it back mate, explain what happened and see what they are prepared to do.

Was the blow out on the tank fitting or a copper line.. If copper did you put a small flare on the end. If so it should be a double flare so no sharp edge to cut inside hose..

Took me a week but finally sorted the fuel lines (again) new hoses for rear and clamps. I had 14mm fuel lines clamps and really needed to be 13mm so new batch of them and return fitted hoses and tank. Car fires up but still idles high but it's got no exhause after the manifold so may need a bit more tweaking at some point.
Throttle cable slacked off, fitted the earths for front lights both sides.

Few electrical niggles, front side lights, headlights and beam work along with rear lights and rear fog does work BUT no indicators work, nor does the hazard lights switch.
Also after the car idles for a little time battery light comes on dash.
Found the flasher relay and I don't think it's getting power as couldn't find a live feed to it.
Changed the two 10amp fuses in the fuse box that cover hazard and indicators but they were fine.
Just nipped out and checked every fuse in the small fuse box and the fuses in the engine side box. I've taken the hazard switch off and it does have power going to one of the pins so the switch is getting something but removed the relay and it had no power, checked another one and it had power but one at the back didn't.
Hmm really confused could a bad earth affect the hazard lights, indicators and looks like rear number plate lights don't work either. Or have I missed something?
