All builders should IVA their cars to ensure safety and possibly increase the resale value. If builders prefer not to IVA their Exocet then they should notify the DVLA on section 7 of the V5. They may then ask for a vehicle identity check (VIC) to confirm that you score over 8 or may determine that you have a modified chassis, please see attached DVLA information form INF26 Radically Altered vehicles; Exocet scores 9 and is not a; "Kit conversion" as the original monocoque is not retained, not a "Kit built vehicle" as it is not all new, not a "Reconstructed Classic" as it is not over 25 years old, not a "Vehicles rebuilt using new/old parts" as the chassis is not the same specification as the original. The VIC inspector may decide that the vehicle requires to be re-registered, they may then ask for a MAC certificate which is only issued following a successful IVA test. Attachments:

I'd like to thank Mr Mills for making us aware of his views on this subject, as well explaining the complex application process. So it is advised by MEV (Designer / Manufacture of the Exocet) that all UK registered Exocet's be BIVA'd then. nigel

Hi Nigel, I`m positive your right, You would have sinificantly altered the floor plan which is why it requires an IVA, everything would be fine untill the first accident and then the s!it wouold hit the fan, insurance would be invalid and what if someone gets hurt? Not really a sensible thing to do I couldn`t sleep at night.

Hi,
Im in Northern Ireland and have been thinking about building an Exocet for some time now (got a damaged '97 1.8i sitting at home). Was wondering if any of you other Norn Iron folks could give me an idea of shipping costs?.. and maybe a wee look at a finished one?

I have a mate who owns a haulage firm. PM me your whereabouts and I'll see what he can do for you. Can't let you see a finished one, but you're welcome to come see a pile of bits lol
