Im starting to get a list together of things I need to buy and im at the suspension.
I know im going to replace the springs and shocks, but my question is:
Should I replace with standard Mazda shocks or go for sport shocks?
I don't want to be spending's hundreds which is why the standard shocks are more tempting and I don't want the car to sit to low?
Cheers

What do you plan on doing with your build, Race, Autocross, or fun driving? If you are leaning more towards the fun driving end you will want the shocks as soft as possible. If your current shocks are not blown I would build it with them and then see what direction you want to go. Most performance shocks are shorter in overall length than stock and have harder spring rates also. The stock Mazda Bilstein shocks are a great was to go if you are on a budget.

Thanks JIDiesel,
Fun driving and the odd track day I think,
The problem is I definitely need to buy new springs as they are rusted and looking very worn.
The cost of buying 4 new stock springs is £100, I can get 4 new stock springs and shocks for £270, or I could go the sport route for around £380, that's the dilemma
Having thought about it, im not sure stiffer/lower springs would be worth it and it will take the comfort out of driving on the roads, would you agree?
I don't want to go stock to then wish I had gone sport, it wont be possible to drive the finished kit with the current 'stock' shocks and springs to see what it feels like

So far mine has been strictly street driven and the stock setup is great. You are dumping a lot of weight so even a tired factory spring is going to feel stiffer and have a lot of life left. Have you considered blasting the springs you have? It should be a relatively cheap thing to do to get up an running then you can decide later about swapping them out.
