If any of you follow a certain mev build on facebook via a certain allan bowker he is going for the all time record bhp figure from a 1.6 engine in his unique exocet build. 515bhp is the aim and it should be all good to go tomorrow.

It would seem that keeping the entire drivetrain together might be a real challenge. With four cylinders, there's half as many power pulses per crank revolution as a V8, which would seem to say that the instantaneous torque transmitted through the drivetrain will be around twice that of a V8 (assuming similar RPM vs HP). I'm thinking that it's like putting a 1000+ hp v8 into the car in terms of drivetrain stress - from the crank through rear axles. wow.

What is he using for a clutch and rear end/diff. With that HP+ he might want to go to a Ford rear. Kits are available..

Will be little to no stress since there won't be any traction available, when the turbo spools and all that instant torque hits, the tires will go up in smoke and the car will go nowhere.

The clutch is a one piece flywheel and clutch unit from the states. 17inch wheels and 9j so plenty of tyre surface. Its actually had another run which was at 430bhp and will be kept at that which is still a record for the engine and outside one us exocet its the most powerful with a 4 pot engine pretty impressive.
This will also be road legal which is the next step and the owner is hoping to attend a few track days this year in it as well. I cant wait to see it and have a run out with it.
