Gents, how much movement should there be in the diff bushes? They look ok, but when I put the subframe on and tighten up the nuts the subframe does rock, whilst I would certainly expect to see some movement it seems like quite a bit, Difficult to comment without some sort of measure. My diff has new rubber (rather than poly) bushes and there is some rotational movement around the axle line but not much.

Yes sorry mate, did think of putting a vid up or something, am going to replace the bushes, seems silly not to do it now while it's all apart, what's the best way to get them out?

Afraid I didn't have to replace them as the new diff bushes came fitted in the reconditioned axle I bought so not sure but due to size I would probably have cut the rubber out first before cutting the outer bush ring taking care not to go to far and cut the diff carrier part of the bush housing. Making a quick trip to the workshop tomorrow so will have a look at the diff I removed to see if there is a simple way to remove. Should say when i replaced all the other bushes I used a blow torch and burnt out the really old seized ones, any that were not seized I used threaded bar and sockets and simply 'wound' them out.

When replacing diff bushing make sure that the opening in the bushing are fwd and rear not to the sides..

When replacing diff bushing make sure that the opening in the bushing are fwd and rear not to the sides.. otherwise there'll be less resistance to rotation? and therefore too much movement?

Ok had a look at the diff i took out of mine and it looks like a diff out of subframe job as drifting the bushes out will need to be driven from below and out of the top (the bush has a lip around top).

Thanks mate, subframes still off at the moment anyway so will get them out, front end all back together now (aside from brake calipers) will get some bushes ordered

To remove my diff bushes I cut out the centre rubber part of the bush then used a cold chisel and a big hammer on the outer metal bush and hit it in towards the centre. They both came out really easily using this method.

Evening all apologies for the lack of updates, ridiculously busy at work the last month or two which has meant the car has fallen down the priority list, but managed to get a bit done over the weekend so thought I best put on the compulsory photo, floor on and fuel/brake line installed

Nice job mate wish I had clipped mine in while upside down for some reason I fitted the clips and then fitted chassis to running gear.
Pm replied to.

Small steps, was miles off line when I put it on, then realised the front subframe was lifting at the back where I had axle stands on it, jacked up front and corner bolts now in

I also see golf clubs, guitars and a sofa couch get that stuff in the loft. Garages are for cars ;-)
