I suppose this depends on your use - track or street/AX. Research 4 point harnesses before you buy one, and check club and track legality. There are some (Schroth, Willans, don't know about Sparco) that are supposed to be engineered NOT to slide up your pelvis, so you don't"submarine" under the belts in an accident - a really bad thing. I'm not convinced on their safety and won't use a 4 point. If you don't want to anchor sub belts to the floor, I'd prefer a 6 point in a "sit on the sub belts" setup where you connect the sub belts to the same bolt anchors as the lap belts, then bring them up from the seat bottom like a parachute harness. Last time I checked this was SCCA approved and should fly with most clubs if not all. This is worth a read: www.ogracing.com/blog/2013/02/6-things-you-need-to-consider-before-buying-harnesses/

I usually am pretty stable on a bar stool and don't need a harness until at least 6 pints. 4 pints is pretty lightweight.
