For those who have successfully mounted seats in the race chassis. What did you go with? I'm 6'0" and ordered a Corbeau Forza sport. Today was the day to find a way to mount. I put the seat on the floor and tried to sit down with a helmet and it is impossible. Even with the seat on the floor and leaned back an insane amount, my helmet still hits the upper cage. I want to mount whatever seat i choose on my double locking corbeau sliders so that others can drive the car as well. I will post pictures when my wife gets home to give you guys an idea of how bad it is.
any input is appreciated. I need to get this figured out so I can get this thing off to powdercoat.

Weird that seat does not look unusually high, in fact they talk about eliminating unnecessary height in the blurb.
I am building a rollcage for my Rocket, adequate head clearance is a critical requirement.

I had huge problems fitting an FIA/MSA seat. I am also 6 feet. Started with Cobra Monaco with Cobra mounts, ended up with a 20° raked seat (Imola pro) and modified mounts with no adjustment for driver change. PM Stuart Stewart Mutch - I know he did have adjustable seats.

Curious why the cage has not simply been made taller to get over this problem? Six foot is not that tall.

I have the Corbeau ZR1s (although I'm thinking of switching to something skinnier and with a back mount like ultrashield or kirkley). I used 1/4 thick flat bar with the double sliders like you're saying and the seat is plenty low enough for my 6foot tall lanky body with the helmet.

I'm leaning toward kirkey 47 series but still can't be sure those will work. I don't want to drop more cash, only to have that not work as well. The ultrashield looks like there is a lead time and I'm not in the mood to wait. I waited long enough for the chassis.

Check with their stocking dealers and call ultrashield directly about ordering the seats. Sometimes they will have a dealer that will have one in stock. I have the Rally Sport seats installed in my build they are the 17" seat. I am also 6'3" and I fit under the rollbar height with my helmet on. I bought mine from www.racedaysafety.com/They have some of the ultrashield seats in stock. Good luck, John

I just spoke with a local exocet owner who has a spare kirkey 17 47 series that he's going to let me test fit. I'm going to pick it up on Saturday.

You should have a couple more vertical inches than in a Spec Miata. That may be a good place to look. For what it's worth, my 6'2" self is absolutely fine in a Kirkey 47-16" with sliders.

Warren, does the 47-16" Kirkey fit the earlier chassis (before the trans tunnel was revised) without modifications?

What bar is your head hitting? Your seating position should put your dome away from any of the bars. Have someone take a picture showing the problem. I find it hard to fathom

Hey TheStig, what seats did you end up going with? I'm also 6' with a Race chassis. I was thinking of the Corbeau Forza seats with sliders, but after hearing your trouble I might have to change. I definitely want to have sliders on my seats. I heard the aluminum seats like the Kirkey ones need a back support, don't know how that would work with the sliders.

I ordered ultrasheild rallysport 16's with 20degree layback. I should have them in the next few days. I know for a fact the kirkeys 47's fit. The corbeau forza sport fia seat will not work. I still have the seat and will take pictures along with the ultrasheild to show the difference.
You can get sliding seat back braces from multiple companies that attach to the rear harness bar. That is the route im taking.

I've used the IO port back braces on a couple cars, they work well.
