I just picked the chasis up from the powder coaters. They have done a brilliant job. Only charged me £170 all in. The guys were very enthusiastic and have asked me to take it to them for a blast when it's built. They are emailing me photos and video of the process step by step. I'd highly recommend them, they are between Doncaster and Barnsley. Their web site has their contact details. www.ppcoatingsltd.co.ukI was quoated as much as £600 by some places. I think RTR charged £299 + vat (£360) so at £170 mine was a bargain.

I have done the quick rack steering rack conversion. What a nightmare that was, I managed to get the slipper plug out as I bought some 20mm hex bar off ebay and it came straight out. The steering rods came off very easily but the round threaded 4 slot nut thingy was rediculously tight. I ruined x2 deep sockets before finally getting it off. After that swapping the parts was easy.

I drilled the 6mm holes for the M4 rivnuts before my chassis went to powder coat so now it's time to fit them all. They go in easily enough and the tool I used to fit them was only £15, so 200 rivnuts later..

So now I am assembling the suspension so I start by chamfering the bushes using a sanding disk on my grinder. I then sprayed the bushes with silicone grease and was able to push them into the suspension parts using my hands although they were quite tight. I then pressed the crush tubes in using the vice with help from my 10 year old daughter. All was going very well until I realised I had x2 bushes missing. A quick call to Paul Holmes (previously RTR) and he is posting me a couple out. I managed to put the suspension together using just a rubber mallet. I know some people had to use long bars to bend things but mine was very easy and simple. Maybe RTR had made some slight changes to the later chassis?

I then fitted the rear hub so had to create something to press the hub into the hub bearing. I decided to use some threaded bar and a couple of pieces of ally angle to wind the bearing in.

Front suspension, hubs and steering rack all went back on easily enough so this is where I am at now.

My gearbox will arrive tomorrow so I am building the engine back up, fitted the new clutch and going to bolt it all together ready for fitting later this week. I'm really enjoying the build so far and I seem to be making good progress.

I like the position of the gear lever, it looks like it will be nice and close to the wheel. The perf below ass's is a good one too, quite comforting in that delicate area but not heavy.

I bought some 10mm spacers off Ebay for the front suspension rather than having lots of washers all piled up. Front suspension is all tightened up now.
