My business is funding the project for the large vatable bills such as purchase of the kit etc. This is put through the business as we are 'sponsoring' a car which will have the company web site address written on it somewhere (very discreetly). All invoices and bills are in my name (no mention of the business). I have done this before with a track day car and my accountant advised me on it. We also get some tax relief as it's sponsorship, we also sponsor a local football team, give to charity etc and we don't own them. I don't know the details so just go on the advise of my accountant re vat and tax but legally I will own the vehicle personally and I am building it personally. The company won't own the vehicle or have any claim to it as it's purely sponsoring it. I'm a long way from IVA yet (over a year I'm guessing) so I'll cross that bridge after the hundreds I have to cross for the build I got my radiator today, I went for the renault magane rad (RT409), I've not checked if it fit's yet. I am also speaking to a guy about seats (cheers steve) so hopefully I will have them and be able to mock up for my gear selector very soon. By the way I have notice on a build I was readying through the chassis had the bracket for the bonnet aero catch welded on? is that normal as mine doesn't have that?

Ive never seen a pre existing bonnet catch. Bingo has one on his, but reading through his build it looks like he's maybe added it himself?

We have never welded on a provision for a bonnet catch.
A flat plate riv-nutted to the chassis rails is fine for locating the pin part of the aero catch.

I was mocking up my front suspension today and either I'm stupid or I have some bits missing or different parts. As the front hub assembly comes with literally no instructions and the build CD has two pictures of it all built up with no detail I was looking at Jack and Dads build for reference. I notice their picture ha the front brake disk bolted to the big alloy part (sorry I don't know what it's called) via the square bit that has threads in it, while my disks holes seem to be spaced for the wheel studs? so the threaded square bit does not match the holes in my disks, so this looks different to me (see pic below) Am I going crazy or is something wrong here?? Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh also with the springs I have 185's and 300lbs, which go on front and which go on the rear please? Thanks Carl

Springs, 300's on the back and the 185's on the front.
The discs your trying to fit onto the alloy hubs are not the correct ones.
The discs you have, are the Focus ST discs by any chance, ford discs have a PCD of 4x108, this is the distance between the bolt holes. As you have probably noticed the disc will fit onto the other side of the hub (Front) as this is were discs normally fit then the wheel goes on. But with these alloy kits, they are designed for old cortina fitment so the disc goes on the rear of the hub and needs a PCD of 4x92 Discs with this fitment can be bought from Rally Design and cost about £90 a pair +vat and postage.
It's a bit of a pain as it means different discs on the front and rear I have exactly the same problems and without any real instructions it took a while for me to get my head round it.
The discs you need to fit on the rear are normal Focus MK1 rear discs (I believe ST ones can be used) and you now need discs from rally design (www,rallydesign.co.uk) for the front it's best to give them a call and state to them what you need.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the best laugh I have had in ages RTR shipped an entire kit to me here in NZ you would have thought it would have been in their interests also to make sure everything was correct and fitted but........

How many sets of discs did RTR send you. If they only sent the ones in the pictures then they are for the rear brakes if they sent you 2 sets of these then I would call them as the discs you have only fit their manufactured uprights not the alloy Rally Design ones.

I wanted drilled and grooved disks on the front as I intend to do a lot of track days etc. Is it possible that I have been supplied drilled and grooved rear disks and was trying to fit the rear disks to the front? The other set of disks I have are solid and not grooved or drilled and a lot smaller so I presumed they were for the rears, although I haven't checked them yet. Looking at my order form I'm not sure which is which now so I'm going to give Paul at RTR a call tomorrow.
Thanks for the quick response though guys On the upside I had my donor cars removed over the weekend. Believe it or not the guy actually drove off like that.
