Hey guys, regarding the rear studs interfering, you are supposed to put the top bolts in (threads facing up), then install the shock tophat. You should have plenty of room. There's no reason to reverse the position of the nut, as it will lead to interferences as you have found. Simply flip around the bolts so the threads go up:

Warren ... should we also have the threads go down on the bolts that secure the shock tophat to the spacer, or keep them (i.e. the silver bolt) oriented as shown in the picture above?

That's exactly what I ended up doing. Wasn't sure if that was the correct way to install them or not. Thank you for the confirmation! I have to take it all back apart now because the helper springs on the V-Maxx coil overs are still rubbing the axle.

Throw away the V-Maxx and buy Xidas or go big money and get HVT 6216i

Throw away the V-Maxx and buy Xidas or go big money and get HVT 6216i Curious why you don't like the V-Maxx. I have no experience with miata suspension setups so I'm all ears.

He just likes his shocks the way like I like my shift-boots. Expensive. He is right the Xidas are far superior to the V-Maxx. You have to spend the money somewhere and suspension is one of the best places to spend it.

I will be getting a boot but ~$75 hurts China wet noodle street suspension vs Netherlands/Germany race suspension. Not sure if you can revalve the v-maxx but you can have the Xida revalved for you exact car weight, sway bar selection, and sprint rates. I'm running the 6261i designed by the same company that does the Xidas for 949 but there are only 4 sets in the world as no one whats to spend $5000 on miata shocks but HOLY SHIT is it worth it. I have the HVT suspension engineer figuring out what vavling, swaybars, and springs to run at a 550FL,550FR,350RL,350RR weight distribution.

^ V maxx's are out of Netherlands, granted they are low end though.
No sense in spreading wrong info

Oh wow! So you can literally give them your corner weights and they will give you a valve matched perfectly for that weight. Definitely something worth while saving my money for!
My biggest complaint about these so far is that they are not height adjustable.

Wait, why aren't they height adjustable?
