Been struggling for some time with the question of keeping my ABS (98 MX5 Mk2 1800) or stripping it out and going non abs. Just as I'd convinced my self removal was the way to go I was doing some reading up on some of the MX5 sites I am not sure whether I'll get pulled up at IVA because donor originally had ABS.
Anyone had any experience on this one?

I kept mine and passed the IVA. there is no issue with removing it you will just have to change the master cylinder as they are different and remove all the ABS wiring.

Thanks for the response.
Realised when i took Servo/Cylinder off donor only two pipes so non abs master cylinder required, trying to locate one at sensible price.
Main reason for changing is substantial change in rolling circumference (as I am trying to get the 50's look for my replicar and going to 80 profile tyres) and I understand any material change from standard upsets ABS ECU and system won't work as it should.

TBH the mx5 abs system is a pretty crude system bigger tyre sizes wont make a difference.
If your still after a non abs master cylinder and bias valve then I have loads in stock. Pm me if you want it.

Tyres was my original reason but have bought a rear axle including diff and support (I only wanted the small casting that fits between the diff and ppf that I broke when stripping donor but seller said he would only sell whole). When I got it back to the workshop it turned out to be fully reconditioned, diff, all bearings and even brake back/dust plates are all new. Downside it isn't kitted up for ABS, no sensor rings, but more importantly hub carriers are not drilled out for bolting on sensors so this rather added to going down the non abs route.
