Hi, first of many silly IVA questions before the test on Friday: I have a fog light switch and a separate tell tail warning lamp, does the switch also need to illuminate?
Thanks

Howdy, my reading of the rules is that you need a tell tale, but it doesn't need to be the switch itself, I'm planning on a separate light from the switch myself so please me know if I'm wrong! Will be thinking of you on Friday for the test, and again on Saturday for your first outing (I hope).
Good luck, Spud

Iva question 2: My brake fluid cap is embossed with dot3 brake fluid rather than dot4 is this ok ?

The cap confirms the type of fluid you HAVE used to stop anyone mixing different fluid. IVA is not an issue here they don't ask you to prove what fluid you have used.

The fog switch needs to be marked as to it's function with the appropriate decal. It does not need to light up if you have a separate tell tale light

Hi, well not too much to report really but a few things that very nearly caught me out, I had not checked the minimum height of the rear lights with a full tank of fuel, luckily I have adjustable shocks but these are shorter than the Mazda originals already so only just scrapped through there. The were not to keen on my wrap around harnesses so if you get a roll bar make sure you specify bolt ins, I very nearly failed here. And lastly an easy one the handbrake mech is all exempt apart from the top surface so a bit of trim needed. The examiner was very impressed with the strength and quality of the chassis and the car was getting a lot of interest, very happy and now looking forward to enjoying getting it in period trim. Cheers

Sounds like my idea to use a BMW Mini combined fog reversing light (orange segment shape; fog in centre reversing light each side of fog) under the number plate is a non starter then.

Hi, if you could raise the car up high enough so that the bottom of the light was 35cm of the floor it would

I have fully adjustable suspension so that may be an option.

Well done on the pass, and very reassuring for the rest of us, hope I'll be able to describe mine as easy too.
