Well the AZ car is street legal but I don't think the 'inspection' here compares with the IVA - Good Luck on the 14th .

Thanks, I wish it was that easy, oh well not like there is any rush to drive a car with no roof or windscreen in winter

Hi Does everyone else have a letter I in there vin number, VOSA have accidentally changed mine to a number 1. I think letter I 's are not allowed, just wondering whether to convert my chassis plate There are no I's in my VIN but quite a few 1 (ones). Way back when buying the donor I did have some notes which gave details of how the VIN was structure but can't find them (anyone else out there have this info?)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_identification_number
This is the VIN I made up for the Replicar insurance - actually they didn't care what is was as long as the 10th digit was the year.
1A9MEVMM7EDJJT007
1st & 2nd 1A Country of manufacture - US, UK would be SA 3rd 9 Manufacturer of less than 500 vehicles per year 4th to 8th MEVMM Vehicle description – MEV Mazda motor 9th 5 Check digit – Required for North America 10th E Model year – 2014 11th D Assembly plant – Donald Circle 12th to 14th JJT Manufacturer identifier – less than 500 vehicles only 15th to 17th 007 Vehicle number – less than 500 vehicles

I think I may have misunderstood, are you saying the number stamped into your MEV chassis has an I but VOSA have recorded as a 1?

On a different subject, have you kept the original MX5 fuel tank or gone for a racing tank?

Hi Correct, stamped I but VOSA have read it as 1, I have kept the standard tank as it seemed quite a nice fit and will give me decentish range, have had a few issues with fabricated Ali tanks in the past, this is probably something I will look into when I turbo the car as I will be getting a new fuel pump anyway. Thanks

Really no need for a new tank.. Why reinvent the wheel just a lot of money and time.. better used else where. you can get a plug and play 250GPM pump for the OEM tank unit.. If you want to go even bigger with an external pump.. (don't see the need) just remove the pump its self extend the pickup tube and put a filter sock on the end and mount pump and lines..

Just making final preparations for the IVA, I have fitted the bonnet with leather straps and have some velcro handle straps to cover the buckles for IVA, I need to go around and put nut covers and trim on various bits. I have two weeks so plenty of time, first impressions on driving it a very favourable when compared to the MX5 but might need to dial out the happy tail at some point The seats are reclinable so look a bit weird in the photo bellow as they are pushed forward, will need to start posting some pre IVA photos soon, I am going to change the mirrors for an IVA friendly set. I am looking forward to setting it road legal so I can get it to paint and start sorting out the vents and period features
