Apologies for the lack of posts, I have been too busy enjoying driving the car. It really is fantastic to drive and gets loads of attention everywhere it goes. I have now made a bit of progress getting the exhaust sorted, I used a company called solid fabrications who have done a great job. I decided to go dual exit towards the rear in the end so here are a few pics: One down, one to go and here they are on the car The car now has a fantastic burble and really sounds the part as well as looks it, a lick of paint and supercharger are the winter mods.

The Racing Replicar is now turning into the 'Silver Fox' the car is stripped down and I am now starting the long job of painting, I have decided to get rid of all the shut lines as I am not having doors or boot: Car stripped and thoroughly degreased and dewaxed No turning back now Shut lines first getting a fill with u-pol fibral fiberglass filler And then filled over with conventional body filler which will be finished off with glazing putty Luckily the gel coat is nice and thick, doing the first pass with 80 grit and then going to fill all the low point ( not too many I have also filled in the reflector recess and will use stick on ones, this is how the car is after the first pass with 80 grit and filler, The ripples in the body work have pretty much gone so minimal filling required which reflects the great quality bodywork. More to follow....

Well the first round of sanding and filling is complete, it has taken 5 full days but I am sure it will be well worth it. All rubbed down and first coat of Epoxy laid down on the bonnet So still to do, 2 coats of epoxy to the rest of the body, the 2 coats of high build primer followed by more sanding , and then on to the colour which will be Aston silver birch, then clear coat.

I finally actually got to do some painting today, nice not to be sanding for a change, I started by knocking up a make shift spray booth, sods law it turned out to be a windy day so I am glad it did not fall over All masked up, luckily not doors!! So 2 coats of epoxy primer laid down just in time as this stuff won't harden if it gets below 10 deg or so. And now I only have 3 lights each side. Well at lest it looks as good as when I started, I will be hiring a spray booth for the next stages as the chemicals get a bit nasty.

Looks like they are around same price (irrespective of width/offset etc) as the wires I bought with the kit . A narrow wheel with the right tyre would look perfect say 5j with 165's?

After 6 weeks of work the car is finally painted I have just spent 4 days working on the my car at the paint shop pros who do a spray booth hire, what a fantastic bunch, nothing was too much trouble and they helped out where needed and offered invaluable advice, they were working on loads of interesting cars highly recommended. So here was the process,, skip to the end of this post if you want to see the final result. So we started with a bit more reshaping of the front wings. After we were happy with the final shape I applied the high build 2k primer This is applied nice and thick to allow for more re-shaping before basecoat. We applied guide coat and starting sanding sanding and sanding, did I mention their is alot of sanding involved So today I finally managed to spray the base coat, the colour is Aston silver birch as per the Bond DB5, here it is after two medium wet coats and a final drop coat to get and even distribution of metallic flake And finally to make it all come alive I sprayed 3 coats of top coat, so here she is all painted finally, so happy with the finished car!!, so next up is a new interior. Anyway some pictures of the car all painted.

Stunning colour really suits the car and filling the door and boot lines really does make a difference.
I spent some time in my teens working in a body shop at weekends and seem to recall it was 2% filling, 3% painting and 95% sanding but this is where the finish comes from and you've certainly achieved an outstanding result.
The red seats and the silver colour put me in mind of the 50s Porsche kit that (i think) GP produced, that too had swoopy lines which the silver enhanced.
