KitFest lives on, it's just moved, same date as well!!!
Many of you are aware that the 5th AMM was to be held at Castle Combe this year, however due to the recent announcement by Castle Combe not to stage the event, the 5th AMM herein after referred to as 'Kitfest' will take place at Curborough on the same date 19th July 2014.
For general information on the event please check out the website at:- www.kitfest.co.uk
While much of the general information regarding the event is, and will be contained on the kitfest website, specific details for MEV Owners wishing to use their vehicles on circuit are herein after detailed below:-
Unfortunately there is only a limited number (28) of vehicle track places available for the event, therefore owners wishing to reserve a place can do so by booking and paying for their place below. Allocation shall be on a first come, first serve basis, due consideration being given for the owners kits road going status, a list of attendees will be published on the Forum in due course.
While road legal vehicles will be given priority, based on the success of last year's event, exceptions will be given to owners vehicles if, based on prior notification, they meet the strict safety checks laid down on the day by the Chief Technical Scrutineer, for safety - Mr S Mills.
All Owners are encouraged to bring their vehicles, even part complete, unlicensed trailered cars will be welcome on the static display. MEV have offered to bring and make available test/setup equipment such as scales, tracking equipment and a decibel meter for Owners use, free of charge, during the event.
Acknowledging that MEV owners are spread all over the country, arrangements have been made to allow for camping on both the Friday and Saturday nights at the facility and it is hoped that with the track closing at around 5.30pm on the Saturday afternoon, members, their families and nominated guests will stay on and participate in the usual family friendly games like, ‘how far can you push a rocket’ while feasting on the usual assortment of barbecue treats, before enjoying good conversation with likeminded people, with perhaps a little light entertainment to end the evening off.
Catering facilities, will be available on site for the duration of the main event from around 9.00am ~ 5.00pm on the Saturday.
Circuit Use - Summary Schedule, Guidelines and Rules
For many Owners this will be there first experience of a track/circuit day and for those that didn't attend last year there first visit to Curborough, therefore in the interests of safety we request everyone to be sensible so that there are as few stoppages as possible and that drivers build up their speed progressively as there familiarity with the Circuit increases throughout the day.
The exact format of the event will be decided by the Marshall's and Staff at Curborough on the day and will be dependent upon the numbers of vehicles and drivers, but generally we will run single circuit sprints in the morning and twin circuit sprints in the afternoon. The start and finish times have been extended compared with previous years to allow for the track straight to be used for timed straight line sprints, therefore there will remain plenty of circuit time for everyone to enjoy themselves as usual. Track available for use from 8.30am ~ 5.30pm (less lunchtime break and timed straight line sprint)
We would like to remind participants that the day is a ‘non competitive event’ where no timing equipment, other than that, that is used by the organisers, or competition is allowed.
Although a more detailed schedule will be given on the day the key times, and important things to note for MEV Owners using the track are detailed below:-
7.00am - Circuit opens. You need to aim to arrive before 7.45 am so you can prepare yourself and your car before the drivers briefing. (for those of you camping the Friday night the facility will be open from 4.30pm on Friday)
8.00am - Signing on. You will need to officially register and sign two indemnities on the day one for the Curborough Circuit and one for MOG/MEV/RTR. (Drivers are required to bring their driving licences, for registration.
8.15am - Drivers briefing. EVERYONE that is intending to use the circuit must attend the drivers briefing before being allowed onto the circuit. If you miss this main briefing please see the Chief Marshall when you arrive.
While the 'General Motorsport Activity Rules' are detailed on the kitfest website, members are reminded of the following key points:-
All users of the Circuit, both passengers and drivers, are required to wear appropriate clothing, arms legs and feet will need to be covered, so no T shirts, shorts or flip flops please and crash helmets are mandatory, so remember to bring your lid. The Marshall's will refuse you and your vehicle access to the track if you or your passenger are not suitably dressed.
All vehicles must be silenced to a maximum noise level of 105dBa when measured at 0.5m from the tail pipe at 45degree angle at 2/3 maximum revs, tests shall be made throughout the day by the Marshall's to ensure all vehicles conform.
Video equipment is allowed but must be securely mounted to the vehicle, no passenger held cameras please.
MEV owners are reminded that this year the event is open to the general public between 9.00am ~ 5.00pm on the Saturday while the Circuit is in operation.
