What type of wheel lock is it.. If OEM Mazda then the dealer should have a key set..If type you put a flat key in try a tie wrap to open them.. Or a socket beat onto the lock to remove it..

Just spent the afternoon reading up on suspension for MX5s and am now doing an impersonation of the bird that flies in ever decreasing circles until it disappears up its own xrse, there is so much info!R2S It gets more complex when you look at ‘bump stops’, on the MX5 they are actually progressive auxiliary springs (reference - www.virkki.com/jyri/miata/bumps.html ) with the steel springs designed to give comfortable ride when driven moderately, then a firm suspension on the auxiliary springs when cornering enthusiastically. ‘Fat Cat Motorsports’ list a whole range of bump stops in different lengths and firmness’s - www.virkki.com/jyri/miata/bumps.html
Thanks to ‘gunwar’ for the above links.
My plan - when I get back to the car is to assemble suspension without the springs, set the car so that the ground clearance and wheel/wheel arch positioning looks ‘right’ and see how much travel is available.
Someone makes an air suspension kit for the MX5 but it looked very expensive.

I have never known wheel nuts to be on so tight (on any car) to get the standard nuts off the MX I had to use a 2m Bar!! I welded bolts onto two of the locking nuts and the bolts just twisted in half. Im not going to waste time and effort on a set of alloys that I might get £50 for. I'd rather just save time and cut the buggers off. you'll soon come to realise that I angle grind first, think later. It's my philosophy in life

Looks like the five spoke Mazda wheels fit the Civic Coupe I have in storage so have found a use for them post IVA.
Not looking to put white walls on mine but they do look ok. Most of the ones I have found are either Van or SUV tyres (a result of wanting to retain the high profile).

will wire wheels be an issue for the IVA ? I thought all they checked was an 'E' rating on the tyres

Wire wheels are fine i think but I am planning on using original dash for IVA so speedo will be set up for the original wheels (not the wires with high profile tyres and a much increased circumference).

I imagine 16/6.50 means 16 inch rim which is 6.5 inches wide

I might just put my honda civic alloys on for the iva as they have nice shiny matching bridgestones. Also I just looked up the cost of an IVA £450 WTF

There is a string on Piston Heads about which wheels would look ok on a MEV Replicar and someone did put a picture of the Jag steel wheels but I'd bet they cost as much if not more than the wires, will see if I can find the photo.
