First what is car being built for.. are you going to be racing or xcrossing a lot.. If not racing I would go for a seat with the bottom seat bolsters laying more flat then straight up to hold you tight in..And side bolsters that flare out more. Think about your other half fitting the seat too.

We are building our mevster more for just cruising around in but we have been looking on eBay at some seats with harness but I am unsure if they will be too wide

Why not contact Stuart and ask if OEM MX5 seats will fit in the built with out modding adjusters as you have to do with the Exocet.. then you would have a width to work with. When checking eBay also look at sport seats not just race seats. You can email/ask questions of seller for size..

I was talking to Stuart the other day about seats. He told me that the standard mx5 seats do not work in the Mevster

Hi Guys, good luck with the build. I have a build well under way and at the final stages of the mechanical build. Can I share my seat experiences with you. I purchased Konig K5000G Bucket Seats seats on a whim from gumtree without any dry fit. Stunning looking, a little heavy, very definitely comfortable. Very excited to fit them. To my utter disappointment they were miles to big to fit in the mevster, I mean not even close. By my measurements the transmission tunnel would have to have been cut away to squeeze them in. Not worth the hassle and they didnt " sit " right inline with the rear M roll bar. So I moved on to a set of MX5 seats. From a Mk1. Again miles to big. I settled in the end for the usual GRP seats from Ebay. Very very light, still snug with little scope for anything bigger but fits ok on MX5 runners and are adjustable. At 6 foot 4 and 16 stone they are a little snug , they definitely hold me tight lol
The MX 5 runners line up with the mounts on the chassis, that being said at 6 foor 4 at the seat fully retracted I can just get in. I think it need to go back another 4 inches (smaller steering wheel might help my cause).
Anyway I just wanted to share my experience with you,. If I can be of any help with Photos of the GPR seats installed, measurements etc let me know
Cheers
Hec

Thanks for that we are picking up chassis this weekend so we are planning on mocking up some stuff . We sat in some roadster seats the other day as that seemed the only choice other than the Grp

Hey, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I will get a few photos up tonight. Hopefully they will be of some help :-)
Really looking forward to getting mine finished off. I am hoping to go down the conventional panels look but without the windscreen. This will mean having to fabricate my own fronts Shell but that's part of the fun .
