Well done Matt They say that actually talking about your craving is the first step to recovery. The next step is to ring RTR and order a kit, its an easy cure

Thanks all for the greetings & advise.... I feel much better for sharing.
Slugshot-do I tell my wife or just order??? Your Tr1ke is very nice by the way, I have watched some of your footage on YouTube. Strangely my best female friend says "just order".
I am 6ft 2 and well fed (approx 20 stone).... I try my hardest to avoid a healthy lifestyle, so would rather not diet whilst building a Tr1ke. Do you think I would fit? I am in Swindon so RTR is a long way to go for a sit in.
I am looking for a cheap good R1. Is yours 170 hp or 150hp? Does it make much difference.

Hi Matt, my trike is running a 150 bhp stock engine and produces more than enough power for me. I'm 5ft 8 and a Lardy 15 stone. The first move is to get a test ride out in someone's trike local to you, worst time of year fir most as they will be having winter mods underway. It's not for everyone, but if you want a vehicle more fun to drive than a car, more comfort than a bike and want to stand out, then phone RTR and place that order.

I would go ahead and order, if money is tight go for the pre 2001 carb model but either way you will not be short changed on the grin factor scale. My tR1ke is based on the early r1 and its quick enough. As for you fitting the tR1ke, Im 5"7 so I had the chassis seat rails fitted 6in further forward than std so I could reach the peddles. If you look at the pic's of mine you can see the big gap behind the seats.

OK I have noticed in some of the build threads that people do not go for factory powder coating. The two I have been reading both mocked up sent to paint shop and then completed final build on return. Is there a reason for this. Factory Powder coating seems more convenient to me. Also do the later engines have different mounts or is it just the swing arms that mount differently. In other words if I built with carb engine initially could i swap to later injection engine later on.
Thanks
Matt

Not a tR1ke builder but with regards the powder coating, I got my Exocet chassis powder coated from MEV and am having to be so carful not to scratch or chip it during the build! It is easier because there's no need to strip it down, as long as you don't take any chunks out of the powder!

Hi Matt. If you have faminly in Frenchay that is pretty close to me. Im in Staple Hill High Street, so anytime you`re in the area feel free to call in for a look. I`m fairly sure the engine mounts are different for each model r1 as you have to specify which one you are using when ordering the kit. Also the wiring would be completely different for carb or injected versions. . As for powder coat , I suppose it depends on if you want to do the build twice, or do it once and take extra care. I bought some cheap pipe lagging to cover most of mine during the build, and because I went for satin black any marks were quite easy to make good
