After careful consideration re location side repeaters installed
Exhaust pipe location is growing on me and I don't think I'm going to do any more with it (not cutting end pipe as previously thought).

Seats and harnesses fitted, starting to look like something you could drive. Are those the old style seats? I sat in similar and they lean back quite a bit. Apparently the new owner of "Replicar" or "LMR 141" as it is now, has changed the body and alloys for a better seat option. (That was sort of how the guy explained it anyway) The LMR is growing on me more and more but I think I'd need to shove more power through it. Even with passenger seat fully back battery is clear (relief). Not sure about the harnesses.

The seats were the second pair made by the company up the road from MEV in Mansfield and were based on seats they produced for Cobras, first set were made for MEV to fit their Replicar demonstrator. If anything they are too wide and rub the centre tunnel and chassis sides making belt adjustment difficult. Narrower seats or seats with holes in sides would solve. They have heater element in the squab, I supplied same to seat manufacturers, think it was a kit made for LandRovers. I prefer the seat base to be more angled so post IVA I'll look at ways of reclining (most likely spacers under front fixings).
On the power front I know others have turbo'd and some super charged. Back in the days of MEV it was suggested the V6 Ford/Mazda unit would fit too (this would be my choice if looking to up power-not a straight six I know but a six never the less).

Hour to spare this afternoon so quick trip across remove Gaz Gold Pro take dimensions put together standard spring and shock measure for comparison and install. Only enough time to do drivers side but staggered by difference in length from mounting points. Gaz Gold Pro 350mm Standard spring and shock 400mm
I know once loaded its unlike to translate to a 2" 'lift' but anything to get rear lights higher is a bonus.

It's not just the height that you will have the issue with but the extreme firmness of using the mx5 standard springs and dampers, which were designed for something about 1260 kilos and not around 700kg.

I changed back to the standard springs and dampers to get it through IVA, the Gaz Gold Pros simply won't give me the rear body height for lights above ground dimension.

Struggled to get across to the workshop for a few days (awaiting new front shocks from MX5 parts) shocks arrived yesterday so had an afternoon there today. All four corners are back to standard springs and shocks. Sorry no pics. Should add standard front spring and shock (on bench not under load) is approx 40mm longer than the Gaz Gold Pro fronts. Gaz Gold Pros back in their box! Next job is torquing everything underneath, final fix of exhaust, lower body side trim fixing and completion of wiring (just a case on connecting and routing cables.). Once the above is sorted I'll have a go at putting tracking in to something like. Following de powering of rack and putting track rods back to same lengths car is sitting on axle stands with severe toe out! Once its close to where it should be, toe in, I'll drop car off stands and complete set up under load.

Thought i'd nip over and complete the exhaust fit, engine running, so as to set the exhaust jointing compound. Another backward step, won't start. First check for spark at plugs, massive spark jumping some way to earth. Spray a little WD40 into plenum and car tries to start, so its lack of fuel. Wiring is all ok so I'm stumped and off to read up on potential issue/solution. Bloody hate the thing some times.

Probably a simple fix when you sit and think it through. Hope so anyway.

No power to the fuel pump so its either trace the fault or new supply and switch to pump straight from battery (located close to pump).
Tracing the fault will be difficult without taking out seats and laying upside down under dash working through spaghetti of wiring or remove the body!
new supply from battery with a switch fairly straight forward
Think I know next steps

So today I ventured to the workshop, put a direct feed to the fuel pump and zilch.
Impossible to replace fuel pump with body on so body off time!

Well body is off and pump is out, dead as a dead thing, trying to source one with correct pole connectors is proving harder than I expected and I'm not (not yet anyway) prepared to pay the Mazda £400 asking price. Strange that lots of Mk2 MX5s seem to have developed fuel pump faults, must only have circa 20years working life.

New fuel pump arrived yesterday nipped across to fit this morning Looks like we are back in business, no issues with wiring or relays was simply a failed pump albeit body had to come off to fit so not that simple. Running smooth, ran it up to temp, good oil pressure and no issues (hope I'm not tempting fate) Let the build re commence.
