Installing the engine, dropping the engine in!
Here are the instruction
FYI the Driver side and Passenger side notation is according to the Proper USA standards!!! Switch it if you are in England.
Preparation steps for dropping in the engine do this before you drop it in.
Two people are need to make it go smoothly; one person will be quite a challenge.
• Clean all motor mounts, make sure your exhaust header are all properly torqued.
• The driver side motor mount on the back with the bolt pointing down, sand off the nob sticking out of the bottom of the rubber.
• The bottom motor mount, check that it will fit into the engine, otherwise file it to get it in.
• The motor mount with the flanges, do not drill holes in the frame, leave it be.
• Cap the CV shaft holes with plastic bags and tap it well, when you till the engine oil will want to come out.
• Lift your engine and make sure the chain is secured with bolts, washers, and nuts of the largest size that will fit through the chain link.
• Watch your fingers as you drop the engine,
• Install the driver’s side engine mount and lightly bolt it, then the passenger side engine mount, and lightly bolt.
• When the engine is resting inside the car put in the lower engine mount into the engine. Then rotate the engine so the mount fits into the frame mount. This mount will be look slightly off line.
• Do not drill any holes in the driver side mount.
• Take the engine lift off and back it away.
• Jack up the car on the passenger side
• Remove the rear passenger side tire.
• Unbolt the top bolt on the upper Arm on the rear so you can slide the CV shaft in
• Clean the splines on both sides of the longer CV shaft and clean out the hole in the transmission of dirt. Lube up the hole with motor oil.
• Insert the CV shaft and seat it, lightly bolt on the retaining bracket that holes the CV shaft bearing on the engine.
• Bolt up the arm and put the tire back on.
• Repeat for the driver’s side,
• However, when installing you will need to press the CV shaft in with all your force, then have a second person with a rubber mallet hit the end of the CV shaft. This will click the CV shaft in.
• Bolt up the arm and put the tire back on.
• Move the engine around on the driver side engine mount, then use two C-clamps to hold it down.
• Align the engine so it is straight, put your weight on rear and check the travel on the rear.
• Use a punch to mark the bolt holes position of the engine mount.
• Only drill the bolt holes for the driver’s side engine mount when you are absolutely sure that is where it should be. Please check the forum to insure this is correct.
