Went down to RTR earlier this week to take some photos of the Mevabusa's that they currently have at various build stages. Harry very kindly showed me my chassis which was near completion. Hopefully should have it on Tuesday. Chassis at RTR (sorry picture is a bit blurry)

Decided to fit some bushes and crush tubes first of all. Took edge off bushes, cleaned out powder coat in wishbones. Pushed in bushes with quick grip clamp. I didn't want the tube to be too tight in the bush or have to hammer it in so resized the hole in bushes using 19mm bit leaving it 'roughly channelled' to hopefully hold in a bit more grease. Greased inside of bushes, polished and greased tube and squeezed in with quick grip. Nice fit, seems to work well, happy days. Took a few hours to do most of them, just a few left for Sunday morning.

Fitted the floor, didn't take any photos but spaced out at about 40/50mm intervals using 4mm 9.5 closed head rivets. Cut the front section separate spaced at about 80mm and just put self tappers in for now. will replace with rivnuts later. Ive covered the floor in matt black self adhesive vinyl for now.
Fitted steering column using 42mm exhaust bracket for lower mounting point and m8 bolts though top mounting points. loose fitted the rack and brake pedal today also. Didn't have to weld column on mine. Removed link, Cut near top of fat end, turned joint round. Filed down lip on column end. Filed down edge of bottom end till it just fit when slightly prying clamp open. Both joints fit tight with no play without the bolts through, but not so tight I couldn't take apart. So I was happy at that. Checked joint movement lock to lock, decided to take 5mm off lower end as it was a bit close to lower joint. Also filed slight indentation for where bolt passes over upper joint. All bolted up works fine.

Not managed to get much done recently, but have got the front end ready to roll. Made some spreader plated for the bolts attaching on the underside of the steering rack. Also had to cut down rod ends, extensions and steering rack to fit. Cut down rod end to square cast. then cut about 10mm off extensions. It fits like this but with not much adjustment, so cut about 4 threads off each end of the rack. Have sourced an engine over the past few weeks so hopefully should have that next week. I'm not bothering with buying a whole bike. Don't have a lot of room or the time to strip it down and going down a different route than the stock clocks/rad/cooler. Not keen on the column, may remove surrounds and cut/grind it down and transfer switchgear too dash.

Not much progress and Still without a laptop so unable to post pics. Feeling strong tonight so thought I'd slam the engine in. Did have the offer of a engine hoist but didn't think he would appreciate a call at 11 pm. (Thanks anyway Deano) So managed to lift the chassis up over the engine and jack it into place.

I removed pairs valve and capped off inlets and airbox pipe. while I was on airbox cut out the flapper valve and capped off the diaphragm valve. removed vacuum solenoid and the vac pipes and capped off to throttle bodies, looks a little bit tidier now. cut down header pipes and fit them also.
about to start the dreaded loom

will add some photos over next few weeks. not done much past month, but have started the loom. stripped loom down to what was basically attached to engine and ecu and ditched the rest. cut the loom and extended to the front where im putting the ecu. not using a donor I don't have hayabusa ignition and going to have to use the ford one which is free with the column . to do this had to put 100ohm resistor from ignition to ground. was going to remove tilt sensor and put resistor in, but instead have kept it. ive opened the box up and siliconed the ring in the centre position of the pendulum. this way I can use it as a immobilizer of sorts. jumped the side stand and put 20ohm resistor to pair valve connection. the clutch switch ive left as a switch to avoid neutral map.

wifes watching Eurovision so though id update thread to where im upto. ownership/building has been very up and down till now. Its no secret that I put it up for sale as a 'part built kit' a few times, no reflection on the car, just me. On a whole really struggled to gel with the build so far. Few big distractions + not put spanner to car in over 5 years + stupid snap decisions + being a right tool some of the time = no motivation, no interest, no progress. I am soooooooooooo glad I didn't sell up. Starting to push on with the build now and loving it.......... Ive never been the tidiest or neatest person so please excuse mess in some of the photos, that's just the way I am. centre tunnel. not clipped up everything but rad pipes handrake and brake, clutch lines in. not 100% happy with this but think its ok for now. will change after iva.

other end brake lines pairs valve removed and blocked off. tidies it all up a little but wont help with emmisions i think. used a marble to block entrance to airbox. will have to look at plastic weld possibly if i keep the airbox after iva, focus fluid res attached. also retained bike clutch res as seperate - still not sure why ive done it seperate, may change just to sole focus engine in, vacuum stuff removed. not keen on crankcase breather, going to change for low profile unit. few pics out of the garage before starting the brakes also started work on the loom - learning curve . its so far taken me alot longer than i thought, but im determined to understand where everything goes and what it does, whats needed and whats not. first picture is what i started with. second is where im upto - engine to ecu loom complete just needs loose ends attaching to ecu plugs and a bit more tape. was going to mod existing loom but its looking more likely that it we have a complete new loom discounting engine plugs and ecu plugs and a few inch of cable running from them, had decided not to use electric gearchange and paddles, not keen on the lack of feel. Have had second thoughts (again) and felt it would be more in keeping with the type of car - bought a kliktronic. needed a bit of work - shaft was bent slightly and buttons have had it, but works fine, now wheres those paddles....................... doh

Looking good! You will not regret keeping and finishing it. I've been out a few times with mine now and WOW!
What a weapon the thing is on the road. Mine is still running on the strangled map from the IVA test and it's already galaxy crossing quick, I'm a little apprehensive to have the map tweaked.

steve - yes mate, told rtr should be back with them by end of july. perhaps a bit ambitious but ill give it a go..... marshabusa - nice to hear from someone who has one on the road. saw your car at rtr when it just got back from iva, very nice mate.............stole a few ideas ........... strangled iva map - and it still goes well! cant wait to find out for myself. been out in the yellow demo a few times, once round blyton, and like you say its very quick, especially on the twisty bits. Even by Pauls admission wasn't set up right and not driven to its potential. Just makes you wonder...............
